Default Ranger Smoking

So I did an oil change yesterday and today the truck is smoking really bad. It seems to be burning oil because its blue smoke. It's a 1992 4.0... any ideas of what to check...

The oil level was also slightly high... not a lot but a little bit over the full line...

It seems that it might also be burning coolant too... I think it might be a head gasket but normally in a blown head gasket doesn't the oil get milky... Also it really only smokes when it is idling or when I get off the gas.

Burning oil right after they did an oil change? Sounds like maybe to light of oil, or maybe they put synthetic in it?

take the dipstick and drip the oil off of it on a hot manifold on another vehicle, oil will just burn, oil and water will dance while it burns. why do you think its burning coolant?

It isnt synthetic. I changed it myself. Also the oil level isn't low on the dip stick. Its actually a little bit high which confuses me?

The smoke kind of smells like coolant.

I did the oil off the dip stick on the hot steel thing... It danced a little bit but i figure that since i just did an oil change, it hasn't had a lot of time to get the milky color...

I would start testing for head gasket or head failure. Sounds like coolant in the oil which is affecting your oil level and also leaking into the cylinder.

Did you run it much since you did the oil change, I screwed up one time and filled the oil too quick on a customers car and it filled up part of the intake tube and smoked alot after that (till i cleaned out the oil)
