I have an 88 Bronco with a C6 and a carbed 79 LTD II 302. The tranny is original to the Bronco and I am having a grinding when the engine is cranked. Before I got it they supposedly changed the flexplate but I dont know if it is the correct one. My question is, if I order a new flexplate, should I order one for the EFI 302 that was originally in the Bronco, or for the LTD 302 that is there now.
The motor is a 79 so it is 28oz. I know I have to use the flexplate that is balanced for the motor, but I was wondering if I am going to have starter problems. Will I have to use one of the custom aftermarket flexplates that use the earlier balance but have the specs of the 88?
If you get a flex plate for a 79 (28oz), use a 79 starter. Shouldn't be any issues.
