Pics of summer tires/wheels and pics with the finished product. I noticed on some small areas and corners the clearcoat looks a little thin. I'll take care of that come Spring when they come off. Once it gets nice out I'll get some better pictures of the car instead of pictures at night in a garage with a BlackBerry.

I like the playing card idea, another good way to mask off the tires I’ve used in the past is liquid dish soap. You just smear it on and paint your wheel, and just power wash off the caked on soap and over spray later.

How often do you need to paint the rims after this point? Do they chip or flake? I have stock alloy rims on my expedition that I want to paint black?

Not sure yet. The Dupli-Color wheel paint says that it is "track-tested." Whatever that means...must be like Jeeps being Trail Rated.

So far it is holding up well to the dirt and salt from the roads, and no chips from rocks or road debris yet. I am staying away from taking it through a touch car wash, but I bet this stuff will hold up to pressure washing or a touchless wash.

I'll keep the thread updated with what happens to the paint.

Hey thanks.

Nope, no scratching or anything. Still looks like they just got painted, except for some more salt crap on them.

Has it been nice out yet with dry roads?

I've gotten it washed a couple times now to get salt off the car, but within a few minutes of driving the wheels are white again from the wet roads.

I took it through a touch car wash one day too. No paint was removed from the wheel at all. They are holding up extremely well.

I just installed new headlights too. They are identical to stock except that all parts except for the reflectors are painted black.

Pics coming soon on those too...
