Default So that was... uh.... interesting

Was out Snowblowing the latest 8" of snow and one of our cops comes walking up to me in the driveway.
asked me if i was real busy or if i had some time to help out the community.

well, comes out his police car slid off the road going around the corner 2 blocks away. The tow truck that came to extract him slid off the road while trying to get him out. He came to me because of my big blue jeep sitting there
wants to know if i can get them out, because it will be 2+ hours before another tow truck can get there (we're getting slammed, black ice, and lots of snow, I-94 closed etc).
I say sure if the jeep actually starts and doesnt implode while trying to get there

It actually started on the first try and moved under it's own power. we drove down the street and they were off good into a ditch. Ended up hooking a static strap up from the rear point of the YJ to a telephone pole to anchor and winched the cop car out first (was happy the winch didn't die, that was the first real pull i've ever done with it).
Then it took both my winch, and the tow trucks winch to extract him out of there, he had fallen into a little swamp area and his tires were through the snow and into the muck.

No, the cop didn't issue me a ticket, but he did say you can get ticketed if trying to pull people out alongside the road. He said they'll make exceptions if it's REALLY nasty and if they stay their safety is at risk.

YJ made it home, but the trip kinda sucked, i still only have the bikini top on, i did put the full doors on instead of the halves, but i found out the heater isn't working fan wont come on at all........ it was COLD

Was the cop just out wandering around looking for 4x4's to pull him out or did he know exactly where you live?

2 blocks down from me on Hawthorne, 90* turn, and 70% of intersections/parking lots/drives are black ice right now, i've been driving on the shoulder in the unplowed so i still have traction

A couple years ago while working for Ogemaw County, I pulled onto the shoulder of the road (the whole road was covered in snow and ice) to turn around because I got a call and had to turn around. Due to the slope of the road, the car(Crown Vic) slid on the ice and hit the snow on the very shoulder. It wasn't really in the ditch, but the rear tires were in the snow far enough that it would not move. I had to call for a tow.

Funny part is cops all like to take pictures of each others stucks and wrecks so we can make fun of each other later. As soon as I called for a wrecker there was like 3 others on the radio coming to "help" with cameras. Fortunatly, a guy came alond with a 4x4 Ranger and gave me a quick tug and I was off before anyone got any photos.

I gave the guy a card with my cell number on it and told him to call me if he ever needed anything. lol
