i give as much as possible, when i buy dog food, ill usually buy 2 and donate the second. i love my dogs. and just like people, everyone of them needs a chance.

I viewed this original thread, as a, hey im getting into this more becuase they need help, anyone else pitch in? not so much as a *hey* look at me, im special. if someone feels good about helping someone *or* something. who says they dont have the right to feel good about it, and share the experience? id rather see these kind of threads around christmas, than all the *WOOT, Spent all my money on parts for me* threads.

You kids sure get profane over a little observation. An opinion. Just look at the language you are using. Relax, children, it's the internet.

That is the part that roped me in. And WR, as far as "the salt of the earth", I'll take HER word for it.
Toys for tots is a huge waste of time. It is a program designed to make guilty people feel "good", maybe even "really good".
Ever seen the warehouses, where the toys for tots people store their toys? More things get thrown away, than actually get delivered to the kids. The brother in law is a Marine, he used to get all of his kid's Christmas presents out of the dumpster, after TFT dumped them.
We had a bike donated at the marine office for TFT in '06 down the hall, it stayed in the back hallway, the one that connected all of the offices to the head until July, then it disappeared. They also had two of their boxes stuffed with toys in the front of their office until after new years because they were too lazy to take them to the reserve center before they went on stand down for xmas.

In theory, I love what TFT is, but I hate how the marines manage it, as in they don't.

x2

before this thread i had no idea people donated to pet shelters, i never even thought about it. and im sure im not the only one.

I've meet her once and she seemed pretty cool(even for a 22 year old college kid)
i cant believe how some have responded, by me seeing this post made me see that there is other things and other ways to help that dont get that much attention. and that was the purpose of the thread.
well for what its worth, im glad you posted this and when i have the funds i would like to do the same.

I will not donate to TFT. There is no filtering process for who gets the donated toys. If they gave them to truly deserving families it would be a different story. From what I understand, it is over run by welfare types that refuse to work, but will take every handout they are "entitled" to. I support those people enough every day I'm at work.

Like Special Ed?

Or would that be a assumption about someone I don't even know?

Great idea Karen and Dave, thanks for sharing.
