Hell with that, take the damn hood off and just slide on that. We've done that multiple times to get off the trail after a ball joint or similar failure. A hood sliding on any trail isn't gonna be damaging then simply driving the trail.

$50 hood vs $500 recovery

My group I ride with is self contained, we have guys who carry only tools, only food, only recovery equipment, ect. We have ready welders, on board air, power inverters, ect. We can dang near build a rig in the woods.

In the photos of the jeep with busted ball joint and busted front axle, Ive been in that spot and drove myself out of the woods. I drug the rf tire the entire way. That non spinning tire will cause SIGNIFICANT damage to the trails in Robo's eye and require extraction
Same point I was making. Wheel with friends and get yourself out. If he told me I had to use his equip that would be fine but I would not pay. If I can get myself out then that is what I would do.

I think it is all a joke and when you are charged the $500 recovery fee Ashton jumps out from the bushes and yells

"You just been Roboskool'd sucka!!"

so the formula is this.

build offroad park + make obsticals that no matter what get people stuck + charge 500$ for recovery = tons of money.

Steve,

Honestly, how many recoveries have you, I and staff done without a single dime exchanging hands? 500,1000,2000? It is simply ignorant for some to think that we actually charge for this "help".

Self recovery is the name of the game. Travel well prepared and with a buddy and all is good. Get stuck and need a helping hand- a simple call on CB 16 gets you a dozen staff members and volunteers to help out-FREE.

A broken rig is never an issue for recovery either. We have always done our best to help our fellow wheelers/guest out of their momentary detainment. FREE. We do not mandate that we do ANY recovery, only if you choose to have our help.

Need a part to fix your rig? 99% of the JS guest and 100% of staff will help you get into town and/or grab what we have in the back of our rigs. FREE.

This 500 dollar recovery fee is simply being hyped for some unjustifiable pot stirring reasons. The underlying motives for this are perfectly clear to me and we should look closely at those who actually steered this thread to the WOOT and what they may have to gain by badmouthing me/JS.

JS is certainly not the only "FAMILY" game in town and we highly encourage others to participate in other legal wheeling opportunities available to them. There are several great legal wheeling areas that offer a much more challenging terrain then we do. We hope that everyone gets out and spends a day out on the trails, whatever their skill level.

JS offers the new and extreme "Jeeper" the opportunity to have a SAFE-LEGAL FUN for FAMILY day on the trails and while visiting our website. We are a non-confrontational group of people and enjoy the values that the JS MEMBERS have set in place. I will do my best to provide my guest the stress free environment that they ask for.

Lastly, JeepSkool is not a dedicated offroad only facility. We state this at the very top of our forum. JeepSkool, not just a Jeep thing- It's a way of life. The SHC land that we hold our JS events on is also used for a multitude of activities, ONE of which is "Jeeping". The majority of events held here during the week(Military/Law enforcement training) have nothing to do with offroading. We feel that we have done an excellent job of providing a venue for ALL recreational activities and have added several amenities to make your stay with us as comfortable as possible, all at a very reasonable rate.

........and once a month, we go Jeeping!

Robocon,

Are you too stubborn to admit, or just too damn stupid to realize, that you could have avoided 99% of this ire by being civil, responsive, and respectful and giving answers like this rather than dancing around, resorting to name calling, and acting like a pompous ass. You brought this on yourself, don't try to minimize it by claiming someone is on a witch hunt and blowing it out of proportion. Great public relation skills, fella.

To clarify:

There is a $500 recovery charge(heavy equipment) for anyone who breaks down on a trail and CAN NOT be removed without major trail damage during the extraction. Regardless of who is in the front of the pack- or by yourself. This includes STAFF.

This charge is explained during Skool and is not negotiable. The equipment is owned by SHC and that is the fee they charge. Not anything I or you can do about it. Triple AAA is not going to save the day here or at any off road facility.
Did you charge 2000xjclassic or are these just more lies out of your mouth? You continue to talk but your actions contradict your words! Non-confrontational? Is that what your replies in this thread have been?? Family park? Blowing up and burning jeeps is a family activity? Have you stopped to consider if promoting senseless destruction as part of the offroad experience will hurt our sport? Respect? You have to give it to receive it. Lead by example? You sure have set one hell of an example......of what not to do.

i have nothing to gain. i'd heard of js like many here and thought it would be a great place to go wheeling. i have nothing against js actually, but you sir (and i use the term loosely) are an arrogant jerk. while useful in an ultimate-fighting ring it's probably less useful here.
and, you probably should keep your trash talking posts to a board where you are a mod and can delete stuff you don't like

if you weren't the person sayin' it i'd probably believe it. i'd hate to be your manager...kind of a catch 22...you know the property and how to run heavy equipment but no idea how to your lip

Kelly,
I have done plenty of recoveries of friends and others that i did not know yet at your park. I even have recovered people who your staff could not(which i discussed with you privately). The problem that i and others here have is we are looking for a more difficult trail/ obstical. You have some nice rocks and trails but with difficulty comes breakage. Its the chance of having to be charged the recovery fee that is deturing many people.

Steve,

We have only had to breakout the 320bl 3 times in 14 yrs. Each case was unique and was the absolute last resort. One example was the ZJ on backwoods w/a broken steering box. He was over a half mile in the muck and was alone without a trail buddy. He was giving every option for self recovery and chose to have his rig removed by me to save himself the nightmare of a cold and muddy repair- one of which he was incapable of making regardless of his place on the property. He and his father were grateful for the recovery and felt the rate charge for my service was fair considering the machine was tracked 2 miles to the site and traveled 1/2 mile into the trails and back out. It was then placed on their trailer and returned home safely.

Nobody is looking to profit from someones misfortune. Nobody is looking to deter people from having a great day out on the trails. Stuff breaks. We understand. Go prepared and travel with a buddy. Need help, call staff or grab someone on the trails. I have always done my best to get everyone home SAFE. The members have always done their best to see their JS trail mates get home safe.

For those of you who are looking for the flip me on my lid trails- JeepSkool is not the place for you. The trails have been built from mild to wild as the members have requested.

For the record, I have not posted one bad word on your forum and have yet to call anyone a foul name. Only fowl.
Yours are simply projected on me.
