Exclamation help with pinion shaft!

so i bought my d44 yesterday off a member on here, and he failed to tell me that the spiders were welded and the bolt that holds the pinion shaft in has the head drilled off!!! very pissed and frustrated. i need to get those out so i can get it re-geared, and ideas on how to get the pinion shaft out?

Are you talking about the shaft that goes through the spider gears?

If it’s a front D44, pull the axle shafts out, and unbolt the ring gear carrier and remove everything as a whole. The pinion gear can be removed after the ring is out.

If you don’t want a welded diff, just replace the carrier while regearing.

I’m not real familiar with rear D44s, but I thought they were a non c-clip design, and would still make it possible to remove the ring gear and carrier without too much effort.

Every d44 I have taken apart has had a roll pin holding the pinion shaft in, not a bolt.

maybe hes talking about the nut inside the yoke, and he cannot remove the pinion itself?
