under normal circumstances, yes it would suck. but i got lucky and have another 4.0L sitting in my garage. now i just have to hope that i can build a successfull franken4.0L and that it'll run long enough till i can get a better one.

i just found a picture of my cherokee where it died this weekend.
but i do want to make it clear. i DID NOT hydrolock the engine. that was the first impression, but after some inspection, it seems the engine died of old age and week parts from constant high rpm wheeling.

i just installed a lift on this one. plus i only have $28 to get it running. that should be enough to cover the gaskets that i'll need to put my other 4.0L in here. but thanks for the offer.

boy was i wrong.

initially i did the "pull the plugs and turn it over" test and nothing came out of the cylinders. and when i drained the oil and pulled the pan, there was no water. that's why i had assumed that it wasn't hydrolocked.

today i took the intake/exhaust/head off, and look what i found. but that's not the big surprise. look what i found when i tried to take my camshaft out.
