Don't know what it too expensive but the Clarkston Union or Clarkston Cafe are both great, casual places with good atmosphere for a date.

Without booze two could eat for about $30-40 plus tip. Booze will add up fast. Both located in downtown Clarkston right on Sashabaw Rd. South of I75. Just a couple miles north of the Palace.

if you take 24 a little north to lake orion you've got a better selection. there's a sagebrush, good mexican, pretty reasonable. and a kruise and muir too a little more upscale, but good food and pretty decent prices.
