Default Chrysler Service Contracts

If they do go bankrupt which looks pretty likely, I know that Chrysler has to still honor the factory warranty. Does anyone know if they still have to honor purchased service contracts?

I have one as well.

I'm not sure what will happen with all of it. I would like to keep it, but I'm torn between what to do. I don't want to keep it and be screwed on it, but at the same time I don't feel good about getting a prorated refund back either because I would feel like a total hypocrite.

Well with the perceived quality of new American cars why would you need a warranty!?

I could really care less about the lifetime warranty. My vehicles are leased. And the service contracts I purchased are for oil changes for the life of the lease. It wasn't a lot of money but it would still suck if they didn't honor them anymore.

I had gotten an employee discount on my car that was about $1,000, and figured it wouldn't be a bad idea getting an extended service contract for the hell of it since my car can't get the lifetime limited powertrain warranty.

I just took it as an extra insurance policy, because if the turbo blows up or something like that, it will pay for itself easily.

On my last two Chrysler vehicles, I only had one that had a warrantable issue which was a trans solenoid on the Dodge Ram.

A long time ago I had an extended warranty on a Ford Probe (2.0L) each time I went in for warranty service I think it cost me $100. After 2 motors incorrectly diagnosed or installed by the dealer, I quickly learned that I had to take matters into my own hands. We fought for 3 months with Ford, finally had the third motor shipped to a family mechanic, he did a full tear down, removed mill shavings from the "re manufactured" block and put it back together with new seals, and put it in my car.

After that, I continued to shift that motor at Redline for many years with no other issues.

What did I learn from that? In the late 90's Ford sucked at remaning small motors (it was done here not at Mazda), extended warranties are silly because only a few dealership mechanics have any clue, and I need to do all my own work.

I don't know what this adds to the post really

Things purchased through the manufacturer that you also have to communicate with the dealer about is a PITA.

With the Ram, it was pretty easy. I paid the deductible, issue was fixed and all was well.

Why are you here? No one is talking about foreign vehicles in this thread. Please go to "F'n UAW....way to go" thread if you would like to continue to spurt random rants about foreign brand.

Love, Management.
