Default Ford 8.8 (Gearing Question)

Ok I have a 93 Ranger and the axle code on the door says that it has 3.27 gears. Right now I have 34x10.5s on it and I'm wondering how its going to do.

Most of my wheeling should be slow speeds and in 4lo. How should they work for that?

A4LD's HATE heat....they do not last long when getting hot/overheated

slow speed = heat
3.27s + 34's = more stress = more heat

I have a very larger tranny cooler on mine and its been doing okay

I had 3.27s in my explorer until two weeks ago, i am only running 31s and it sucked oh so bad, i could almost never use 4hi while wheeling.

Now i regeared to 4.10 and absolutly love it with the 31s.

3.27's and 33" or taller tires SUCK! Been there... changing that soon too! If you're gonna be changing gears, do yourself a favor, go for the 4.10 ratio. The 3.73 gears are the absolute limit for 33" tires... if you wanna do it rite, go 4.56. At least then if you get the urge to get larger tires in the future... like we all do... you will have enough gearing to do so.
