Default anyone got that annoying WinWeb spyware/virus crap? WTF!

I can't get rid of it. It pops up every few seconds. All my google searches are redirected to some "REMOVE SPYWARE NOW!!!" blah blah website crap.

Someone used my computer and got this shit. My Zonealarm cannot "check for updates".

It seems that it has blocked me from accessing any type of Norton.com, Zonealarm.com, etc... other websites work.

I can copy and paste URL's in my browser to get directly to a page, but all my Google (and other search engine) searches are going from something like "www.webanalytics.com/google" something rather.

It's annoying as fukc , and just started happening. My zonealarm cannot find anything wrong.

WTF?! (I would google it... but my god damn search results are redirected spam shit)

I get a page load error:

Quote:

but other websites worked. It's like it has disabled my ability to go to any legitimate software site to get rid of it.

Honestly, when it's that serious that it's crippling your system, I'd just say back up all your data and reformat your HD and reinstall the operating system. It's just too hard to seriously clean it all out.

So far, none of the above have worked. Everything says it's "SAFE".

I've always wanted to try this, so this might be a reason to switch.

Will my AT&T U-Verse internet be compatible with this OS I wonder?

Good plan, Ubuntu is nice. From a quick google search, there isn't a whole lot of experience with Ubuntu and Uverse, let us know how it works please!

Just be sure to back up all your Windows data, as installing Ubuntu may require you to reformat your harddrive.

Yeah.. I just threw some important files on my thumb drive. I just got done downloading the 700MB file, and need to burn the ISO onto a bootable cd.

My burner is jacked right now, so I gotta wait until my bro brings his laptop home later tonight, put the .iso on his macbook from my thumbdrive, burn the boot disc, reformat my HD, and install.

I'll be doing it tomorrow afternoon and let everyone know how it turns out.

(I tried googling ubuntu and uverse as well... and didn't come up with a whole lot of info. Worst case scenario if it doesn't work, do a fresh install of XP.)

I want to just upgrade my desktop to an iMac..but I'm being cheap until the holidays are over. So I'm trying any free alternative to hold me over for another 2-3 months. haha

UVerse will work just fine. Internet devices not directly attached to your computer via USB should generally work with no issues. Especially if you're behind a router. They just use basic networking principles to make shit work.

I concur on the OS reinstallation. Once an operating system has been compromised, I no longer trust it. Don't use IE after you reinstall, or if you do, use IE7, and don't disable all the anti-malware stuff.

If you're halfway intelligent about what you download and run on your system, you don't really even necessarily need antivirus. Plenty of people will disagree with me on this, but I don't personally run any form of active virus protection. Running occasional scans is of course beneficial.

I just got done installing Ubuntu.

It took a total of about 30 min after I made the boot disc. My broadband internet was already setup when booted for the first time. Very simple and friendly user interface.

Definitely recommend the upgrade.

F-Windows.
