Default Got a new camera, here are a few pics

Just playing around with it today. It's a Canon SX10IS. I'm still new to photography so any tips or hints would be great. The only things I know are from trial and error and a few instructional videos I've seen online. These were shot in macro mode.

great pics! i am by no means an expert, but have recently started trying to take some macro pics... i find that the most difficult part is trying to determine where i want, and where in fact my focal point is.

for example, the pic with the pistol on it's own, you highlighted the slide with the focus it looks. you could play around with different areas, like the laser lettering... or taken 'barrel on' giving you a perspective of the barrel very clearly with the rest of the pistol being out of the DOF

looks good tho!!! (dont know if you wanted unsolited opinions, but i know i like them :)

I'm still learning as well. I can already see that an SLR would do better for me but I want to maximize this camera before buying something else. When I get to the point that the camera is holding me back I will upgrade. I'm not there yet.
