Default help quad runs like crap!

I have a 99 kawaski praire 2wd 400 quad...

I use it very little, only for yard work and stuff
for the past couple years it would run great for about 10-15 min and then when it got warm it would just spit and sputter and backfire...and usually die, even when feathering the throttle or having it wide open...wait a couple minutes and it would run again for 4-5 minand then do it again

now it wont even run for 2 min...

carbs are cleaned and look good, i did find a bad plug wire end...repaired the plug wire and replaced the end (wire a little shorter now)

and there is no change....

I dont want to take this to a dealer, any ideas?

I am thinking the bad wire caused the coil to get weak and it breaks down when it gets hot???

any other ideas? am I way off my thinking?

Check stator, cdi and coil..you are on the right track!! It sounds like an electrical problem to me

first off i would do a compression check.... if it is lower after it warms up you may have gummed up rings or even bad rings you can use some marvel mystry oil in the cylender and let it soak or some wd 40...dunno if this will help you or not just my 2 cents

first off check the gas tank breather if it has one, next check to make sure it has good fuel flow from the gas tank.

No the choke is working fine it is not stuck on, the carbs were just cleaned(by a professional), cause i thought that is what was wrong with it

i use this alot in the fall...so i am babying it and it seems to run ok if i dont try and run it hard....if i just putt around under half throttle it seems to stay running...i try and run it hard and after a few minutes it spits and backfires and falls on its face, but not right away???

when i get the money i am taking it to a kawaski dealer

Does it pop through the carb when in cuts out or through the exhaust. It could be a air leak causing it to run lean, Try spraying around the carb and carb boot with carb clean and see if the idle changes.
