Question diesel fuel!

so ive been wondering latly about diesel fuel.... i run highway fuel and off road fuel depending on what im using in my stuff. i have been seeing tanks being dipped on pick up that had 100 gallon tanks in the back..... what is the big deal??? i know there is more taxes on the on high way/ low sulfer fuel but whats is the difference between if you are using off road or vegie?? cause neither have road taxes!

explain!

You'll find out what the big deal is when you get nailed with thousands of dollars in fines for using red dye fuel.

Great topic, quick question though. Is there a difference between the 'red dyed' off road fuel and standard diesel? A coworker of mine claims that the 'offroad' or 'farm' or whatever you call it WILL NOT run in my Powerstroke ('97 if it matters). I know better, but couldn't argue to the point of exactly what the difference is.

BTW, sorry to hijack but at least it's relevant.

ive ran a 99 powerstroke on off road! runs fine blows black smoke as well if not better then on road! on road its suppose to be refined a little better! (low sulfer) is what they say....

so if caught with vegie oil they will try to make you pay tax on it??? thats weird!

its a $1000 fine per gallon with a $5000 max fine!

Ok, realistically, unless they see you fill your street truck up with it, how would they know?

you can if they dip it mater fact it stains your tank so it could have been 3 tanks ago you ran off road and it will still dip red and you get screwed
