Default Week #5 "Architecture"

Anything related to architecture: Inside/outside buildings, homes, you name it.

5 story pagoda in a Temple/Shrine area.

Atomic Bomb Dome, Hiroshima... This is one of the only buildings that was left after the blast in WW2. Which is amazing, considering it was very close to the hypo-center.

Nice electrical, eh? It's surprising anything works!!

Tokyo Tower, Tokyo

All the pics are from Japan, various places. The architecture of their shrines and temples is awesome... but the actual buildings in and around the cities are quite lacking in appeal. And yes, my husband and I are currently in Japan (although we didn't take the pics this week). No Thanksgiving for us

I don't think you're going to get nearly as many shots taken within this time frame. I thought it would be better to have a few entries that don't count for the poll "if there is ever a poll" than have a photo contest thread with 3 entries.

Don't know if the challenges are going to take off or not. It would be awesome to see more people get into it, however its pointless to have them if its going to be a free for all. ('m not trying to bash you or anyone else....) I think it would be great to post images like that in the main Photog section to get people into it. A lot of people probably don't even click on the Challenge section. More people will enjoy your shots if they have their own thread and a proper subject line, vs. the "Challenge" thread.

As I said above, I'm not bashing anyone's ideas or photos, just trying to organize this whole "Challenge" thing. I encourage people to post their shots in the main Photog section, since that's what it's for.

Thanks, I got a Canon SX10 IS. I know it's not a fancy SLR but for my limited skill level I think it will be dummy proof until I can better learn the manual modes. Once I do know the manual stuff it will let me start making adjustments. That and the 20x zoom and image stabilization on this thing is just awesome.

I would say if you want to get into dSLR start messing with the manual modes a lot on your P&S if it allows. It's how i started learning and every time you mess with stuff it makes more and more sense. Digital is free to learn on, unlike film, so mess with settings as much as you like
