Default Transfer Case Clunk

When 4X4 is engaged it clunks. It is a light cluck. It did this a little last year but once I used it more it went away and didn't do it again. When I disengage 4X4 it doesn't seem to let go. It clunks a little more for a while. If I go in reverse it seems to disengage quicker. I think the sound most sounds like a noise a drive shaft would make if it were cliping the frame when rotating...if that helps.

if your fighting the case letting go of being engaged. it sounds like you have a tire or gear ratio issue. when ever you have a bind it has to be winding up the suspension like a spring to get in a bind like that

I ask because the Rangers electric shift motor causes similar issues from, strangely enough, not engaging/disengaging things all the way. Rather finicky motor assembly and it's not well sealed.

Truck is a 98 F250. Auto tranny. Electric T-Case. I don't think it is a binding noise. It is on a rotation that it clunks/clicking kinda noise.
