I had to relocate the fuse box and stuff. Couldn't use the overflow or wiper stuff. I figured I'd get around to that stuff after this trip. Coke can for a radiator overflow catch and no wiper sprayers or horns. Without inner fenderwells you run out of room to mount stuff pretty quick.

FYI
The battery boxes in 90 to 96 Fords have a mounting system that hangs off the Fender. They work great when you need add stuff like this without inner fenders.

Looks great. I wouldn't worry about the front spring rates yet based on that tree climb alone, that's typical of something that vertical....try again on something with more of an angle to it and judge off that. STI ramp, neighbor's Saturn, whatever.

Had a little extra time, "finished" cage up for now.........

Skid plate is reinstalled, rock sliders are bolted in for good. Windshield tomorrow or tuesday. Need to make rear coil spring retainers, find a spot for fire extinguisher, med kit, and tire plug kit and pack spares and tools. Going to be a rough first trip out I think. I'm going to tack weld my jam nuts to my links, noticed them loosening up already. Hope it's tracking somewhat straight down the road lol.

Before:

After:

Overall, worked pretty well. Need to fix a few things and change a couple others around but I'd say it's 85% the way I would like it. It got renamed the "Dung Beetle" because apparently it looks like a beetle working it's way through stuff and the driver can't drive for shit. At least I think that's how Shotgun phrased it

A couple things I know for sure now.
1. I can't drive for shit.
2. Wheeling a manual is like carrying Alboy up a really long hill compared to an auto.
3. There are obstacles in Indiana that I won't even consider attempting.
4. I can't drive for shit.
5. Throttle is your friend when shit goes really wrong.
6. Jeep windshield frames dent easily
7. Good friends will help you out of trouble, and try to get you into more
8. LTB's are ok in the rocks.......but are absolutely the shit for greasy, slimy, snotty trails and obstacles.
9. I can't drive for shit.

I'll post some pictures once I get some. It was an awesome weekend with awesome people and justified every hour and dollar spent to get there.

It was nice meeting you Vern, nice rig you got there. Damn impressive climb right before the rear shaft gave up the ghost in the quarry.

Took 2 hours to power wash last night. Inside is still a mess, I'll get to that later.
Damage:
Both rocker guards are smoked, they did piss poor at best, bad design on my part.
Steering box is leaking pretty steadily, needs to be rebuilt.
Smoked 2 body mounts
Windshield dented, need to pull that back out for passenger side door to seal again.
Pass side lower control arm mount is collapsed onto the Johnny Joint, that'll have to be fixed
Gouged one rim pretty good around the lip.
Have to check out my winch line, watched it start to fray on a rock on the pond trail. Have to check that out to see how bad it is.

Other than a couple jam nuts that didn't want to stay tight and a battery cable lead that I didn't tighten well enough, everything went pretty well.

List:
-Fix steering box, install hydro assist and heim steering, adjust steering stops.
-Rework fan/radiator hold down
-Deturd the bent windshield.
-Redesign rocker guard area all together
-Tie cage into frame
-Blue coil springs block out way sooner than eibach springs according to eibach's website info. I don't know if I got bad info from Eibach but my slider stops need to move down about 1" in the front.
-Need to move bump stops down about an inch in the rear, tires got up into the body and corner guards.
-Rear springs are way too soft, need to source new ones.
-Rear sway bar needed. Ass end wanted to come over the front contstantly when turning in 4-low.
-Seats and harnesses are essential at this point. Need to be tied into cage also.
-Have to find out what is leaking when gas tank is full and sitting on stupid angles.
-Need to pull rear axle forward .25" or so to keep rear diff cover from hitting fuel cell skid.
-Find a 4.0L that has more oil pressure when warmed up. The check gauges light gets old.

Yep, it's never done
