I don't really like guns but I'm thinking of "investing".

Haven't had a gun since the 20 ga. I had as a kid for duck hunting with the old man. I'll be purchasing handguns for me and the wife after the first of the year when things calm down a bit. Gotta do some research first and honestly have no idea where to start.

well what are you looking for? cheap? expensive? small? big?

there are quite a few people here that can point you in the right direction.

also if you are looking at getting your self a CPL than find a class that does not require you to have your own hand gun. that way you get to try many and find out what works for you before you send the moneys

Not an issue here in WI, no permits given. I'll start a new thread though, hijack over.

ammo is a big thing to stock up on. he wants to jack up the taxes on it! i have a feeling it is going to get pretty expensive to shoot

x2, he may not be able to take our guns, but he can make it hard/expensive to buy ammo.

450 for the upper and the parts kit/furniture +95 for the lower + 20 for the ffl. i also picked up 3 more of the 95 dollars lowers, I could sell them right now and make a very good profit.

I saw that thread. But when I went to the site they were already sold out.

I know what I want to do with an AR (varminter/ target rifle), I just cant afford it. The upper I want was $600 alone IIRC. Though I wouldnt mind sitting on a couple empty $100 lowers for a few years right about now.

And as for ammo taxes, does anyone know specifics? I heard 500% on ammo. But what about reloading supplies? I was planing on tooling up to reload my .308 anyway.

The wife got herself an S&W Sigma .40 carry weapon.

I saw a few that tickled my fancy - especially a composite-stocked BAR in 300 WSM...
