shortening/lengthening a gooseneck?

ive been in the market for a gooseneck for quite a while now, and just cant seem to find what i need. i need a 30-36' gooseneck 20k+ i want a low profile tandem dual, or a triple single lowboy. its almost impossible to even find a used trailer in this size and weight, and if you do, its a regular tall hight deck-over.

i can find 40'ers in my price range and rating pretty much all the time. problem is, my place isnt big enough to turn around a 40'er. especially in the winter when i have to plow or snowblow everything.

i can also find crap loads of 25' trailers in the right weight rating, but 25' is too short.

would it be a terrible idea to shorten a 40'er? i would have to cut off the hitch, and reweld it on about 6 foot back, cutting off the rest of the front. this would throw off the wheelbase though i think.

would it be better to lengthen a 25'?

would i have to get a new title, and claim it as a new assembled?

If you are considering changing the length of a trailer, may want to read this this article on Pirate. Very good writeup on stretching a trailer.

Try these Guys. www.appalachianmfg.com They built a 36' tri-axle low boy goose neck for my brother very reasonably priced. Can't find a good picture of it but we haul 3 jeeps on it. It has hauled a 4450 John Deere tractor to Nebraska for a friend of ours also. Can get you a picture if you would like. Very nice trailer for the price.

I custom ordered my trailer from appalachian trailers as well. I only paid approx. 3700 for a 28' ..they are 24' standard if I remember right.
