my 4R70W :) i think that lil stumpy drive shaft for the devorsed 205 is the same spline 31 i belive. my truck will still think its a 2wd but it will serectly be 4x4 haha. i found an axle but its a leaf sprung axle i think we would be able to change it to coils. axle and coil + buckets im hoping to get for 300 and work out a payment plan to get him his money. so that gives me a 205 transfer case a 44 front and a 10.25 rear with my 4.6 and the 4R70W should be fun funny part is everything will bolt right in haha

hahaha get some rockwells 20" of lift and some 52"s or even those 70"s or w.e you were talkin bout hahaha. but again $$$$$ is a factor so 8-10 inchs of lift im good with going even if it stayed stock height with 4x4 id be happy with it!!!

oh come on we could get so good at changing the 8.8 we could do it on the trail in the dark and sank in the mud al!

i added up my parts well what i think all ill need it came out to 850 so say 1,000 to be sure. so yeah man i wish i didnt owe people money . i owe jake 300 i owe randy 100 so my frist 400 goes to them then im starting from scrat. if i go to work i can make 200ish a week. plus what ever yard clean up gives us. and any scrap we find :)

change of plans again. im trading my dana 70 for a 10.25 so i will have the VSS. hes giveing me the disc brake convertion too. so i will have disc in the rear. the 10.25 is going to stay out for a while till i can find 4.56's and what not.

i found a dana 44 complete wheel to wheel plus all the steering links for 250. has 3.55 geas so my 8.8 with 3.55 will stay in untill i can afford 4.56s for the 10.25 and the dana 44.

cant wait should be tearing into this project when we get back from up north same plan as masterbeattys truck on the trailer so we can move it and do what ever we need to.

well good news this project is moving ahead in the gather parts order.. i bought a complete wheel to wheel dana 44 with everything coils shocks trac bar drag bar everything even hub lockouts for 250 bucks this 44 has 3.55 gears witch my 8.8 has right now so once i get matrals to make brackets and what not im going to run the 44 with my 8.8 then im going to get 4.56 for the 44 and 10.25 and do them at the same time. i just started school and do not have a 2nd car to drive so this project may wait till the start of july giving me time to get money for metal for brackets and also random parts of the front end like ball joints brakes everything. while i wait i might take both axles to my buddys place get them both sand blasted and painted black.

whatcha gunna run for a tcase? might think about gathering some driveshaft parts, at least a front with a CV that you can shorten... What are your steering plans? Do you know what size/spring rate coils and shocks you're going to run up front?

I admire your ambition and enthusiasm, just make sure you think things through before you start cutting. It sounds like you're hard on equipment, so plan on a factor of safety of 3-4, ie, 1/4"+ plate for all mounts, brackets, etc and a welder that can get penetration in that material, and gusset/brace anything that will see side loading or other significant force in any direction other than what you'd planned.
Use only Grade 8 hardware for ANYTHING that will see suspension-related forces, 1/2" diameter and larger to mount your radius arms, track bar, coil mounts...

It's going to be a big project, but it would be sweet to see it done.

Good luck!

I thought the rear end in '97 f-150's were 34 spline 9.75's? Are 4x4's and 2WD's different?

woohoo gettin a 5.4!!

well my buddy locked up his 5.4 and is going to give it to me when he gets a new motor. i stil have my 4.6 but i want to go threw and rebuild this 5.4 and build it for some power to. i plan on rebuildin pretty much everything depending on what happend to lock it up. he lost an oil pump and then it stoped runnin so im thinkin oil pump and a bearing somewere.

My plans for this motor are Complete rebuild. DOHC *Navi heads* A blower weather it be an Eaton M112 or a wipple or KB. Comp cams somthing with a noticable idle but power band 1,000-5,000. i was thinking about having some headwork done to while im at it.

1. Does anyone know of a good rebuild kit for a 5.4? thats not to pricy but not el chepo?

2. is the DOHC exhuast ports diff then the 2V?

3 .is thre any stroker kit someone has used or would recommend or should i not get one??

4.What cams do you recommend??

5. Also i know ill need to upgrade fuel. what lbs/HR and what brand. Also what fuel pump do you guys recomend??

I am not rushing this project so cost kinda doesnt matter but at the same time i still wanna put it togther and run it. this is pretty much an unlimted build i have no dead line. as it stands right now i have abour 300-400 bucks to put into the motor. no idea what i might get for X-mas so i might have more.

Any and all info would be awesome. Thanks alot guys! going from a 4.6 to a blowen DOHC 5.4 should be a pretty drymic chage eh?
