Default 79 F-150 Dana 44 and 9" with 4.88s SOLD!!

SOLD!!!

I'm finally to the point of selling the 4.88 axles.
From a 1979 Ford F-150 (coil springs) so they are full width (roughly 65 inches WMS-to-WMS) and have cast wedges up front (not welded). I never got a chance to use them, but was told they came from a running truck that was being parted out. Decent condition overall (better than the axles I'm using now). Track bar hole looks to be in good shape. One of the hubs is missing. Brake parts are all there. Rear diff is welded up, front is open. I may be able to get some stock radius arms and frame brackets and other nic-naks if you need them.
Looking for $580 for the pair.
I'm located about 20 minutes south of Detroit in Riverview, MI 48193.
Also, I can accept payment through paypal.
Thanks,
--Pete

What is the bolt pattern on these axles and do you know if the cast in perches can be cut off for spring mounting?

I've been told that it's possible to weld perches on to the tops of the wedges (it's all steel afterall), but it's impossible to completely remove them without retubing the axle. The axle tubes are not continuous through the cast wedges.

I'd be willing to deliver if you cover most of the diesel, but no, it's not a regular drive of mine.

Nope. They are indeed of the cast variety.

Don't fear the Ford radius arms, I've been using them to great effect under my MJ.

can the guts and knuckles and everything on the front axle be swapped over to a 79 f-250 dana 44 to eliminate the cast wedges bc i have that axle and if it can be done i might be interested in the whole package. these will be under my MJ. (the front i have is a 79 F-250 Dana 44 Hi Pinion Driver side 8 lug no lockouts)

yes you can switch the differentials as they are the same. I do believe however that the axle shafts on the 8 lug version are a different length than the 5 lug version.
