Did you actually read my statement, or was it beyond your simple level of comprehension?

Go ahead, take my words completely out of context. I'm quite used to it around these parts lately.

I'm really getting sick and tired of the same people on this board making the same horrible "slippery slope" assumptions about what's going to happen in the next four years. You have no clue, nor does anyone else at this point. From what the "liberal media" was saying last night, the rest of the world seems to be pretty happy with the choice that the country made. You might say that America was ignorant and "drank the kool-aid" of Obama, but what about the rest of the world? Either he's got the wool pulled down over everyone's eyes pretty tightly, or maybe your tinfoil hats are just getting in the way of logical and reasonable thinking.

As I said from the get-go, change (I really wish he wouldn't have campaigned on that word, because it's so nice to use in a non-partisan statement) can only occur when it's forced. "An object in motion, when free of outside influence, will remain in motion"; applies to more than just physics. Our government is at a stalemate right now, as the Republican presidency tries to battle the Democrat controlled congress. That object is going nowhere. With the change in control of the presidency, hopefully the country at least heads SOMEWHERE. The wrong direction is still a direction, as opposed to the lack of movement we have now.

The rest of the world hates us NOW, as in currently. Let's face it, our foreign policy has been pretty poor throughout the last decade or so, giving them plenty of reason to be angry with the US. Given that so many countries besides the US are now celebrating Obama's victory, I'd say they are anticipating a new era of foreign relations in which we actually consider the global effects of our actions.

At a point in time where many Europeans know more about the workings of our government than the citizens here, I'm happy to see them celebrating with us.

And like it's been said, the next 4 years will show the "proof in the pudding". We're a Democrat-controlled country for the time being, and if they're unable to do a better job than the stalemated incumbents, then God help us all.

For his sake and our sake, I hope that he does a good job. I don't care who you voted for or what you belive about the issues. We need someone who will come in and do a good job for and try to save our crappy economy. Yes, there are some things that he would like to do that I don't agree with, but what am I going to do now, piss and moan about every little things that he does? No, I'm going to go to work like I do everyday and hope that everything turns out for the best.

God bless his decisions and

The rest of the world likes him because he is nothing like Bush.

If GW never happened, McCain probably would have won. He couldn't disassociate himself with Bush enough.

I just have to ask, what does the opinion of the rest of the world have to do with OUR election? The rest of the world is not necessarily looking for what is best for Americans - surely you understand that. We are the only superpower left in the world and I, for one, would like to keep it that way and that is strongly at odds with the rest of the world's opinions.

You might want to take a history course. The "rest of the world" has not exactly liked us in a very very long time. They tolerated us back when we supplied them money and weapons to fight the common Soviet enemy, but that should not be mistaken as any sort of bond. If you think that the current generation of anti-US hatred is new, well, I just can't imagine ignorance of that magnitude so I'll assume that you don't.

You're happy that the rest of the world, who hates us, is happy about who we elected president?? Why do you think they're happy?? They're foreseeing the fall of the superpower that is america. Glad you're happy that they're happy idiot.

We will know in 2 years with the 2010 mid terms. If Obama is way out on the left the American people will give him a Republican Congress to deal with.

His presidency will not be the end of the country. Just as GWB was not the end of the country. Even though at times it felt like it.. It was not the end of the country..

Time will tell but this will not be the end of the country... in 2010 we will have a chance to give a correction to this election.
