I did not vote for Obama, nor do I like most of his political stances. However, I hope for our Country's sake, he becomes a great President and makes our Country flurish again. I am tired of beating down the President, I am tried of the media beating down the President. It's been a long time since this Country didn't make the President into a pissing pole.

I do hope that having a African-American President gives us some kind of world street cred. I hope it opens up the Election to many fine people in years to come. Black, White, Man or Woman.

Whether you like him or not right now, at least we can do is give him his fair shot. Let's try to stop calling him a "insert racial slur here" and hope that he becomes a GREAT President.

Or, you could always move to Canada? It's really that easy.

We are all in this together. Wild specualtion will solve nothing, actions will. The world reaction to the election has been positive. And we need this support from around the world, it is truly a global economy and society we live in.

Thanks Brimy, its really a breath of fresh air to see a statement like this. No matter what your beliefs are on Obama, the majority of the country liked him enough to get him in office and now we just have to see what happens. Who really knows what will happen with taxes? Just because someone has a plan doesn't mean it won't change or it won't get voted down. Wait and see. Maybe all of you bitching about him will really benefit. Unless you can see the future or have a time machine, I think we have to wait.

Or move to Canade. You won't be missed.

At least now we have someone who is a bit more studied on international relations. Maybe we can finally be diplomatic about some things and stop going to war.

A republican running us into more debt is not the answer. You all talk about this "money from nowhere" that Obama is promising. What about McCain giving hundreds of billions of dollars to big companies and not increasing any other taxes? How the hell does that work?

By eliminating social programs with little to no use, and making lazy asses do something with their lives, instead of spending our hard earned dollars.

Tax breaks to big companies are a large incentive to keep the companies here. NAFTA really f-ed America, and you can thank Billy Boy for that.

x2
tax breaks to large companies allows them to hire more people. higher business taxes make employers lay people off or downsize.

Or increase cost of goods and services. (i.e., do you think when our President elect moves forward with his plan to bankrupt the coal industry, that DTE will make less electricity with coal, or will it raise the cost to the consumers?). And to move to alternative energy it will require capital, (this is normally created with profit via bonds or loans) With higher taxes there is less capital for investments in growth (e.g., people), or technology advancements.

While I am sure there will be "tax-cuts" they will quickly be consumed by higher-costs and lower wages.
