Thumbs up Eden Pure Heater

Just bought one two weeks ago. Its an electric heater ran by light bulbs.
Power bill will go up $120.00 amonth on our power if pluged in all the time on high.Im heating 1500sq ft thirty deg. out side right now and seventy one inside.I would highly consider get one if you heat with fuel oil like me.Im heating only half of the 3000 sq ft house when the rest is done a out door wood stove will be on the list.

They had an infomercial on this morning. It looked interesting. $120.00 a month extra for electricity seems like a lot. Not if it's your only source of heat though. Are you also running a furnace?

My dad uses one in their basement, as well as will bring it upstairs once in awhile to curtail his propane use. He seems to love it, he bought my sister one for her house. (They otherwise heat solely with wood).

I'm going to have to look into one. I have a natural gas wall heater in my basement/rec room, it is dirty and not very efficient. I'm thinking an electric one might be better. It has been a lifesaver when the power goes out though.

My grandparents have been running one in addition to their natural gas furnace and claim it is saving them a bunch.

Right now electric and other alternatives are even more appealing than before. Natural gas has gone up about 35% here since spring.

Father inlaw ordered one a couple weeks ago, still waiting to see how he likes it.

Sounds like it would be perfect for my cabin up north.

A buddy of mine bought one last year and loves it. Last year I spent over 800 a month on fuel oil and we were still cold in that old farm house. I got the hell out of there before this winter.

Why would you encourage kids to play on it in the first place?

ok, I've seen these before...my question, what are the benefits of this large expensive box over a 29.99 ceramic heater that uses the same amount of power? A heater using 110V can only produce 1500 Watts. How can it generate more heat using less power? isn't there some kind of laws of thermal dynamics that would prove that buying one of these is pointless unless you like the aesthetics of it? My thinking is that it may stay warm longer than a ceramic heater, because it might take longer to heat up the copper sheets inside, but it will just take that much more power to heat up the copper. It doesn't really make sense to me.

Q. What is the origin of this amazing heating element in the EdenPURE™ Heater?

A. This advanced heating element was discovered accidentally by a man named John Jones. He had a large old farmhouse that was impossible to heat. Jones had a coal furnace in his basement. Jones placed a sheet of cured copper near the furnace to store it. Cured copper is a type of copper that goes through an extensive heating process to give it special properties.

After the fire went out in the coal furnace, Jones noticed that the sheet of copper was heating his entire basement evenly, even though the furnace was no longer putting out heat. He also was amazed as to how long the heat stayed in the copper and continued to warm the room.

Jones was so taken back by this that he started to experiment. He formed a company to develop a heating source out of this cured copper. But Jones had a number of children and he did not want a heating source that would cause a fire or create other hazardous situations like creating carbon monoxide or radiation. He also did not want his children to get burned. To make a long story short, through a great deal of research and development, Jones developed a heating source that utilized commercial infrared quartz tubes.

sounds like bunk to me.

Basically, it's a waste of money unless you think that it's beautiful enough to be worth $400. I think not. If so, I have a bridge for sale ;)

I bought one last year, mine is Sunheat. I just turned my furnace on yesterday for the first time this season.

Infrared bulbs and some sheet metal flashing on the inside as well as an electric fan reminiscient of a PC case fan is on the inside. The cord is extra heavy to prevent overdraw. I noticed no noticeable difference in electric utilities from last year, but I didn't have my typical propane fill-up in March. Even though I saved about $600 on my last fill up, I spent more than $1400 in propane last year. Because of the rising prices, I felt I didn't gain any savings over the previous year, however I saved $600.00 by not having my final fill.

We'll see this year if any larger difference occurs.
