The latest up date for the open counties has this in the side bar.

Quote:
USFS claims no ORVs on county roads that are bounded by USFS land, county map sort of shows this which is contrary to ordinance
looks like the USFS is making their own rules again

I wonder if the counties will roll over on this or fight it.

The USFS rescinded this statement at the last MSTAC meeting and said they would allow travel.

Now I have to wonder which statement is correct???

(8) In addition to any applicable requirement of section 81133(c), a person shall not operate an ORV pursuant to this section when visibility is substantially reduced due to weather conditions without displaying a lighted headlight and lighted taillight. Beginning January 1, 2010, a person shall not operate an ORV pursuant to this section without displaying a lighted headlight and lighted taillight.

Victory twp. (my home) will be open in 30 days. Board had a special meeting with no showing of hands not in favor of adopting the ordinance. Then later the board approved the motion to adopt with a 5-0 roll call vote. That is 5 twp. open with two more scheduled to vote this month.

That is correct the entire township will be open. The road commission is trying to keep all roads open in each area for 1 year and then address the problem spots. Mason County sheriff spoke to our group and said of the 4 currently open townships he has not had a single complaint. Only issue was last year a dumbass was driving his golf cart with a case of brew in the back. Not an ORV issue but a moron driving issue. A big thank you to the board for listening to the people. Also keep in mind the first day it will be open is Oct. 15 in good time for use in deer season, just be carefull.

MANISTEE — The Manistee County Board of Commissioners Thursday defeated an ordinance that would have allowed — with regulations — off-road vehicle use on roads in the county.
The 4-3 vote had no votes from commissioners Jim Krolczyk, Duane Anderson, Glenn Lottie and Richard Schmidt and yes votes from commissioners Carl Rutske, Ken Hilliard and Ervin Kowalski. “The only comments I heard were many of them felt it was more of a township decision than a county decision,” Manistee County Administrator Tom Kaminski said about the vote. From Ludigton Daily news. Sad shit right there!!!!!

TUSCOLA COUNTY — Gentlemen and ladies start your engines! Tuscola County’s Off-Road Vehicle (ORV) ordinance is in effect today.
County commissioners approved the ordinance at their Feb. 14 meeting, but the ordinance could not be activated until its notice was published in a newspaper of general circulation in the county. Notice of the ORV ordinance is published into day’s edition (Wednesday) of the Tuscola County Advertiser .
With its publishing, the ordinance is ready to be used, explained county Controller Mike Hoagland.
The ordinance authorizes and regulates the operation of ORVs on roads in the county. However, some roadways – state highways and county primary roads – are restricted from ORVs use.
A copy of the map for roads that allow or restrict ORVs use, and also a complete copy of the ORV ordinance is available on the county’s website www.tuscolacounty.org. They are also at the county office building at 125 W. Lincoln St., Caro. The office is open Monday – Friday 8 a.m.-noon and 1-4:30 p.m.
