Default 99 7.3 with ZF trans. Employee stranded. odd clutch issue.

He says when he pushes in the clutch (which is extremely hard to push in now) it will stall the engine. The trans appears to be in neutral. He smells burnt clutch.

He backed out of a parking spot without issue, and when he went to put it in gear, it did this.

This is a 6 speed ZF.

any ideas for a parking lot fix, or am I looking at a big ass tow bill?

big tow bill, no parking lot fix, sounds like a possible busted pressure plate.

does it do it in all gears, or can he back up more?

If it stalls, I would guess either
1- the trans isn't actually in N so the shifters might have failed
2- the dual flywheel shat the bed.

if the trans truelly was in N, that shouldn't cause a stall
