Default Front main seal.

Mine is leaking on an 87-88 22RE, and I need a new one before Saturday. I've called around but no one seems to know the difference between the front or rear. Or if they have them.

I called the dealership in Grand Blanc, but no one answered in the parts departments.

Anyone KNOW who stocks them, either the short version or the slip sleeve repair kit in the Flint area?

Edit: Are the front/rear main seals the same seal? Because even the parts lists that I find online dont list a front seal, only rears.

I replaced a front seal on my 87 22RE a few years ago. It was just a stock NAPA part was no big deal to get.

The guy I talked to at Burton auto said he didnt list anything as a "Front main seal."

But I actually found another fix that I can get a hold of, they used a shorter seal in the later model RE's, and when you slip them in, you can position it away from the groove.

Found one, at Murrays on Dort.

You gotta ask for the timing cover seal set for a 1994 Pickup if you go there. It will come with a seal that the outer edge is the same size as stock, but the inner part of the seal has a shorter height, which wont ride in the groove of the stock seal.

Just posting for future searching reference
