I think I am going to start gathering parts for a solid axle because I am not completely happy with the way that it is.

update... my truck sucks. who woulda figured with it being two wheel drive ;D
So it is now a for sure thing, I AM doing a solid axle. The amount of lift will depend on the size tires I can find in the classifieds on here, , or Craigslist.

I now remember why I sold my 2wd lifted S10... it couldnt do crap like this one.
It was pretty pathetic, I got stuck on flat ground ;D

I run 30psi in mine.

Get a locker or limited slip, it will help alot.

my LSD wasnt working, so when I got stuck one side was completely covered in mud and the other kinda clean.

I am gonna do gears and lockers once I get a new 4x4 tail housing for the trans and throw the t-case that I have on. And hopefully somtime before summer I will be somewhere decent with the truck.

Thanks on the PSI, I ended up running at 30 PSI as well

My brother was locked and geared and I did better than him at the mounds on T-Day, as long as I was rolling I was decent.

Well, I got a reason to work on the truck again. I just broke it going threw a small whole. I figured it was bound to happen, the leaf mount finally busted off. So I am close to tucking my tire :)

Checked out prices and junkyards for the parts for the swap. no luck on the trans and transfer case at most places, but found one combination w/55,000 miles on it for $950. I think I am gonna look for something cheaper. only saw two cherokees and teh D30's didnt look so great. I got two more big places where I know I will have more luck and I know I will be able to find everything so I am hoping to fall into some money soon.

my old ranger had that same shackle problem. when i was doing research on a sas with the d30 i found out they were using the Rubicon express long arm bars from a Cherokee or wrangler. that looked like a nice and clean set up.

well the truck is up and driving again.

I decided for the sas on the truck that I was doing leafs. probably using YJ leafs, start with stock to see how much lift I get and then If I need more then I will buy some lift ones.

I'm using a D30 to keep the cost down, so I only do one axle instead of having to do both front and rear.

Well my project just got a jump start today. Thanks to "Fraser" I got a Decent D30. and once I got home, I headed to the junkyard to get the front leafs off of a YJ, My brother and I made a personal record for getting ceased up bolts out and getting the leafs out all in 50 minutes before the yard closed.

Now all I need is some square tubing to make the front crossmember and some more tubing for the hangers and shackles.

put more work into the axle today, about 4hrs worth. It was horrible trying to cut off the shit for the xj 4 link. but it looks better and somewhat cleaner.

I think the rotton mount was on the easy side

It looked easier to cut off than it was, might have helped if I had good tools.

possibly getting a parts explorer this week, its a first gen explorer. I am gonna use the trans, and front drive shaft for sure, and possibly using the rear drive shaft to extend the one for the ranger, and possibly use teh push-button transfercase.

Once I get it/if I get it, I am gonna use the parts I need and either part it out or use it for the next project, I am not sure yet.

Well the explorer didnt work out, called and left a message, called back later and said someone was "looking at it". oh well, didnt need to waste money on that anyways.

well, got a little progress, I ordered a bunch of stuff from Ruffstuff. Looks like I have, and have stuff on the way to get the axle all the way in.

I got the
spring perches for the D30
6" long shackle pieces
The leaf spring hangers
and the shackle hanger with bushings
all ended up being $158 shipped at least I know all of the stuff is going to be the same and more accurate than I could make everything.
