Default 246 t-case vs 243??

can you swap these out?
I know the 246 is auto 4wd and the 243 is not.

is there something you can switch to make a 243 work in a 246 spot?

problem being someone I know has a blown 246 and can't find one, but lots of people have the 243.

You'll have to change the harness, d.shafts, module, dash switch.... more trouble then its worth. I might have a 246....
