i figured out the problem, very large truck being pushed my a tiny motor. Get bigger motor, problem fixed Like everyone else sounds like a bad coil pack.

I find it funny how people automatically know what the cause is without doing any diagnostics.

Immortal, let me know if that fuel filter fixes it or what else you find out.

Immortal called me on the phone and said his wife got it to stall while backing up a loading ramp, and he felt it while going up a steep grade at full throttle.

Autozone's scanner didn't pull up any codes, but I don't know if their scanner will pull up stored codes either. 90,000 miles and the fuel filter hasn't been replaced. Full throttle and high load on the engine needs all the fuel it can get, a fuel filter could certainly cause the issue.

Immortal is going to pop a fuel filter in and see what happens.

is this the 3 valve engine?

if you want to drive it to westland i'll hook up my "live data" scanner to it and do some other testing.

I wasn't referring to you. I was referring to the other two geniuses that posted towards the top of this page.

Any shop with a decent scanner or IDS should be able to look in Mode 6 data and tell you what cyl.(s) are misfiring. I wouldn't pull plugs without knowing what one is bad if is a 3 valve, they have problems with the plug breaking in two. Bad times!!

Sweet. Yeah I would like that

Chugging on freeway so far seems to have gone away due to replacing the fuel filter. Still some minor lag and hesitation on take offs. I intend to replace spark plugs next.
