Default Transmission for 1982 K10.

Heres the deal, in July I bought a regular Cab Long bed 4x4 1982 Chevy k10. Has a CARBURATED 305 motor and a 350 trans. I want to have overdrive because I do more highway driving than anything. I was thinking either a 700r4.
But if I got one off a fuel injected motor in would mess up the shifting. Right??

So is a 700r4 from a efi motor vacum shifted through 1st,2nd, and 3rd gear and then electric shifted to overdrive or what? Could I just hook a switch up like 2nd gen dodges have for the over drive or is there a better way to do this??
Thanks a Bunch for any help guys.

sell the 82 and buy an 87, it will be cheaper and easier. The 87 will be fuel injected and have an overdrive trans.

But the 82 is really nice and I cant sell it for anything at all. These trucks hardly sell right now.
