Panic is not a sound investment strategy.
I wish the idiots that are helping crash wall street would realize that.

Right. What I'm trying to figure out is how bumpy will the ride be and for how long.
Is it going to be like Y2k where it turns into a big nothing, or will it be like the depression where our great grand kids are going to dismissing our quirks as "oh, he lived through the second great depression".

I don't think anyone has the balls anymore to call it a depression.

It will probably be written in a more "positive" manor, the great finance crisis or something.

C'mon. Have you not paid any attention to marketing during the past 10 years? It'll be called the "Xtreme depression"

I don't believe it'll get named w/o the use of hardKore with a "k".

But the marketing of the past 10 years is being thrown out the window as we speak. Here’s how I see it…

Gen X is like the Baby Boomers little brother. The whole “Xtreme, HaRdKoRe” crap is Gen X’s attempt to scream and be heard over the din of the Baby Boomers blather. It’s Gen X saying “look at me, look at me, look at me”. Gen Y and beyond will see this down turn has the result of Baby Boomers largeness and Gen X’s Xtremeness. Gen Y and beyond have grown up hearing Al Gore et al telling us that were destroying the planet. Now their seeing the same style of living, the whole live for today and f’ tomorrow destroying the economy. I think this downturn will be deeper and longer lasting than anything we’ve seen since the depression, and may rival that. I believe it will be enough to change the way people live. I think in the end it will make the country stronger.

It’s like the last few decades have been one big party, and now were waking up with an terrible hangover and need to have that one big puke before we can start to feel better.
