Default Hiking Isle Royale Aug 18-Sept 5. Engaged.

I was across Lake Superior from Bones...and I, too, asked my girlfriend to marry me. What is up with all the engagements? Is something in the water?

There were 4 of us. Dad, Dajayhawk, Pirates of the Woods (my soon to be wife), and I. Dajayhawk and PotW left after a week on the island but dad and I stayed for 16 days. In the end I hiked 92.7 miles and took 1290 pictures. In total the 4 of us took over 2200 pictures.

I asked her to marry me at a lookout point in Todd Harbor, under the stars. The next day we returned for some pics.

She said yes.

Congrats to you too, Bones.

For the last 5 years I've taken a huge geocaching and Jeeping trip to the U.P. in August and Isle Royale was always someplace I wanted to go. This year was the year and it was the trip of a lifetime. If any of you that are planning on going would like any tips, hints, advice...just ask. I am intimately familiar with ferry schedules and gift shops and the lodge and trails and more. It is well worth the effort and $ to go there.

Mike, I've been waiting and waiting for you post your UP pics. It's one of those things I look forward to every year seeing all your pics from the UP. Thanks for sharing these....post more if you can.

Congrats on the engagement, what a cool trip and place to propose to your girlfriend.

So how many caches did you get this trip?

All 4 of us hiked the entire Minong Ridge together (and the Huginnen Cove loop). The girls left us at Windigo. I convinced dad to hike to Feldtman Lake for 3 days of fishing (and we slayed 'em). Then he hiked back to Windigo and spent a night alone while I hiked to Siskiwit Bay to spend a night...and then I hiked past Island Mine and down the Greenstone Ridge back to Windigo to meet back up the next afternoon. We took the Voyager back to Rock Harbor, hiked the Stoll trail loop to and from Scoville Point and chartered a boat to take us to the Hidden Lake dock so we could hike to Lookout Louise and Mount Franklin. Besides that I alloted one day to drive up and one day to drive back home (in Ann Arbor). There is a virtual cache and an earthcache on Isle Royale and I did both of them...that was it for caching. And here are some more pics (and I have MANY more).

Awesome pics thanks!

After going to Copper Harbor, I really want to make the trip to Isle Royal. We were out of season for the lodge on our honeymoon, so we didn't make the trip this year.

Awesome pics & Congrats! I can't wait to go back.

So did you pack those Miller Lites in or did you get them from one of the boats that go to each of the harbors?

Looks like you had an awesome trip once again Mike. I too have looked forward the last couple years to your trip pics.

We did a nice trip with a bunch from expeditionportal.com from Marquette to Copper Harbor's Rocket Launch Site (or close). I never got a chance to post a pics thread from it because we have been going 100 mph+ with our move shortly after.

Anyways, great pics!! Any thoughts on where you are headed next year?

Hmm, maybe I will post up a thread now . . . . .

Mike, sorry to bring this up from the dead, but do you happen to have all of your coordinates saved to files for the up?
