Default RickyBuilt Jeep XJ

So I guess i'll make this the official start of my new rig build up.
step 1: Drag my dads 88 MJ out of the way
step 2: Drag my 92 XJ out of the weeds

plans

build a full cage inside
take suspension from my 96 and swap to the 92 and make the control arms about 6" longer and stronger mounts
strengthen rear leaf spring hangers and unibody
swap OBA over to 92
Line-x the crap out of underbody and interior
swap drive train over and add a new header, 99+ intake, and new rearmain seal (after rig is wheelable i will attempt a stroker build, have most parts for that now!!!)
finish my rear bumper and tire carrier and move hi-lift to tire carrier
install 8.8 rear end and 4.11's
install lunch box locker in d30 and wheel till it explodes

very little rust on this one as opposed to my 96. so starting with a solid platform, well as solid as a unibody can be anywayLOL

what you think I need a supervisor or something
probably. I got to finish guttin the 92 so i can see how much body work needs to be done inside, I know it is very little, but I want a jeep I can wheel for another 8-10 years and not have to worry about rust on key componets.

Looks like it's gonna be a pretty cool process to watch. You should ditch the thornbirds tho, definately not very fond of those tires. Have fun.

well gotta a chance to work on the jeep now, not much done but managed to get the dash pulled out and get the main hoops bent up for the cage and mocked into aproximate locations, plan on cutting stringers and tacking it together tommorrow. let me know of any concerns you might see, this is my first cage and I am pretty much shooting from the hip LOL

Well I finally got a chance to work on this one again...........not much progress but some none the less, hopefully will be able to find some more time to knock out a little more. After a little head scratching and brain storming we finally decided against welding floor plates directly to floor. Instead the floor will be sandwiched between to 1/4" plates bolted together and will allow me to tie in to the unibody as best as I can. Thanks to Bigblockford79 for coming out and helping and for the ideas

not much structure on the wheel well, but need a place for this hoop, I will run a floor plate that will span the width between the wheel wells and tie in to that with some down bars, I wanted this hoop here so I could put a harness bar in for the rear seat.

hopefully I can get some more done later.

well I have learned that cages, XJ's, and mounting suspension seats to said cage, are not much fun.........so here is the disaster I am working on and hopefully after I get this done, every thing else will go easier..........yeah right

had to clearance the tranny tunnel to fit my seats and cross bars for the cage to mount the seats too.

yes this build is going incredibly slow........but work is really busy right now..... I also hate sheetmetal work LOL
