Default Republican Principles

I'm a Republican Because...

I BELIEVE the strength of our nation lies with the individual and that each personís dignity, freedom, ability and responsibility must be honored.
by producing the Patriot Act which destroyed our Bill of Rights and exposing CIA agents

I BELIEVE in equal rights, equal justice and equal opportunity for all, regardless of race, creed, sex, age or disability.
by firing 9 US attorneys and opposing Gay marriage

I BELIEVE free enterprise and encouraging individual initiative have brought this nation opportunity, economic growth and prosperity.
Note: bail-out, AIG, Lehman Bros, food prices, fuel prices, house prices and unemployment

I BELIEVE government must practice fiscal responsibility and allow individuals to keep more of the money they earn.
Note: $3.1T budget with $400B deficit

I BELIEVE the proper role of government is to provide for the people only those critical functions that cannot be performed by individuals or private organizations, and that the best government is that which governs least.
Like Katrina disaster response and Fannie May & Freddie Mac

I BELIEVE the most effective, responsible and responsive government is government closest to the people.
Like listening to constituents that oppose Paulson's plan

I BELIEVE Americans must retain the principles that have made us strong while developing new and innovative ideas to meet the challenges of changing times.
Like Jack Abramoff and National Health Care

I BELIEVE Americans value and should preserve our national strength and pride while working to extend peace, freedom and human rights throughout the world. Like interrogation practices at Guantanamo, Afghanistan, and Abu Ghraib

FINALLY, I believe the Republican Party is the best vehicle for translating these ideals into positive and successful principles of government.
LOL!

A man goes into the doctor with severe headaches and finds out that he has a terminal brain tumor. He asks the doctor if there is anything that they could do. He informs him of a radical new brain transplant procedure.

"How much will a new brain cost?" The man asks.

"Well, if you want to get the brain of a Democrat, it will cost you $100,000. But if you want the brain of a Republican, it will cost you $50,000"

"Why is the Republican brain so much less than the Democrat brain?" the ill man asked.

The doctor replied:" Well, since the Republican brain has been used, we can only sell it for half price."

Fifty thousand people go to a baseball game, but the game was rained out and a refund was due.

The team was about to send out refunds when someone stopped them and suggested that they send out refund amounts based on the their interpretation of fairness. After all, if the refunds were made based on the price each person paid for the tickets, most of the money would go to the richest people.

Their plan says:

- People in the $10 seats will get back $15, because they had less money to spend.

- People in the $15 seats will get back $15, because that's only fair.

- People in the $25 seats will get back $1, because they already make a lot of money and don't need a refund.

- People in the $50 luxury seats will have to pay another $50, because they already have way too much money to spend.

- People driving by the stadium who couldn't afford to watch the game will get $10 each, even though they didn't pay anything in, just because they need the most help.

I really dislike the word income redistribution.... The only way I want to redistribute my wealth is if someone provides me with some sort of goods or services. Then I will gladly redistribute my wealth by paying them for what was provided to me... Otherwise on them...

Democrats:

I believe in redistributing everyone's money so the people that are too fucking lazy can get money from those who work hard.

A young woman was about to finish her first year of college. Like so many others her age she considered herself to be a very liberal Democrat and was for distribution of all wealth.

She felt deeply ashamed that her father was a rather staunch Republican, which she expressed openly. One day she was challenging her father on his beliefs and his opposition to higher taxes on the rich and the addition of more government welfare programs.

Based on the lectures that she had participated in and the occasional chat with a professor she felt that for years her father had obviously harbored an evil, even selfish desire to keep what he thought should be his. The self-professed objectivity proclaimed by her professors had to be the truth and she indicated so to her father.

He stopped her and asked her point blank, how she was doing in school. She answered rather haughtily that she had a 4.0 GPA, and let him know that it was tough to maintain. That she studied all the time and never had time to go out and party like other people she knew. She didn't even have time for a boyfriend and didn't really have many college friends because of spending all her time studying.

Her father listened and then asked, "How is your good friend Mary doing?"

She replied, "Mary is barely getting by." She continued, "She barely has a 2.0 GPA," adding, "and all she takes are easy classes and she never studies." "But Mary is so very popular on campus, college for her is a blast, she goes to all the parties all the time and very often doesn't even show up for classes because she is too hung over."

Her father then asked his daughter, "Why don't you go to the Dean's Office and ask him to deduct a 1.0 off your 4.0 GPA and give it to your friend who only has a 2.0." He continued, "That way you will both have a 3.0 GPA and certainly that would be a fair and equal distribution of GPA."

The daughter visibly shocked by her father's suggestion angrily fired back, "That wouldn't be fair! I worked really hard for mine, I did without And Mary has done little or nothing, she played while I worked real hard!"

The father slowly smiled, winked and said, "Welcome to the Republican Party."

Greasemonkey I was looking for that story, it is in my opinion the single best explanation of the democrat way. I even had my daughter read this back a few years ago when her class was pushing the democrat way on her and her friends , she even had a teacher tell her to not use a certain cell phone service because it gave money to the republican party !!!!.

I have never claimed to belong to either party but after reading motorcitymans and PeteC's posts over the last few weeks I now believe I am 100% republican or at least I can say I am NOT a Democrat !!

Motorcityman and PeteC John Mccain thanks you for your service.

No, that's the government redistributing it in the form of welfare, food stamps, etc.

If you're talking about the bailout, would you rather have wall street bailed out by foreign interests?

I don't think people realize the gravity of our financial markets collapsing. Our government has to make a choice between a bad and a worse situation. The bailout is the lesser of the evils, but in now way is it good.

Wall Street won't colapse.

The bail out is bullshit.

The Dow has been trading between 9500 and 14000 for over ten years. As of today the Dow is in it's normal trading range, so is the S&P and Nasdaq.

Do you even know who gets that 700 billion?????
