Default Budget 94 Ranger Prerunner !!!!

I have started my 94 ranger prerunner project. Here are some pics of where I am at on it. I think it is a great start for $1500. Next is the shocks and mounting them. I think I am going with a 2.5 14"coilover up front and a 2.5 16" or 18" smooth body with ressi for the rear. Thinking maybe FOA shocks. Anyone using them right now? What do you think of them? I have a set of FABTEC beams that I will be extending 4" each to work with the front coilovers. Big thanks to Eric of WATZ'S CUSTOM WELDING AND FABRICATION for keeping me on budget.

looks like a great start!
what are your plans for motor and trans?

i have a pair of glassworksunlimited front fenders in my shed collecting dust, if your still looking for front skins, believe they'll work for 94+ rangers or whenever they did the update to the rounder bodys...i had them on a '02

great start to the project.....im glad to see one of these being built on the site. Not too many people had any interest in mine and its cool to see something outside the box. Good luck with the build and im excited to see progress. BTW my buddies have a similar project with a 97 on a beer budget so you may have some company if you go to the dunes.

X2- I've always wanted a turbo pre-runner. It would make me go back to my Blue Oval roots.

Looks like a good start, I love pre-runner builds.

i'd have to agree. The idea behind a prerunner is lightweight/nimble. I feel like using a 302 would sort if negate the idea and would abuse the suspension that much more everytime you make a big hit. Just my 2cents. And i'm subscribed, love the prerunners.

Are you going to run deavers in the rear with the 2.5's? You might be able to find someone to ship you used parts from cali off www.race-dezert.com. I want to run racerunners on my 04' f-150 but i dont know if i want to spend the cash

Thanks guys!!!! I will be going with the 302 because I can get a 302+c4 for free. I am going to be using 2.5 shock at all four corners. I talked to FOA and they sound like they can hook me up for around $1000 (all four shock). So needless to say, It will be a few weeks on them. I will be getting some used simulated bead lock rims this week from a member off here. Xploder25 I have a set of Fabtec long travel on the back with the shackles fliped and WOW what a difference. I do know about race dezert.com and also dezertranger.com. They are awsome sites for prerunners. My goal was to really replacate my trophykart and so far its looking good. What do you guys think?

thats sweet......what does that kart have for an engine and do you race in some kind of modified class locally? lol, you just dont see stuff like that often. Btw i have heard all kinds of good reviews on the latest FOA products, the earlier coilovers had some leaking but that was my plan until i crashed it. But yes looking good

oh and thanks redmud....was an awesome little truck but now that i have a daughter i have to have 4 seats, lol.

86scottsdalek10 mine is a Trophykart Elite and has a kx250f motor. Also Fabtec dirt logic 2.0 coilover shocks (what a plush ride). There is no racing here as of now but I hope when things get better in michigan I can get a few out and start some racing. These are huge out in california and it always takes a few years for there stuff to show up here. They just had the Trophykart world series race last weekend out there and some of the drivers where jeremy megrath, brian deegan, and so on. You can check out some videos on youtube of TK racing out there. Also thanks for the insite on FOA. I am 90% sure that is what I am going with.

FOA is a stand-up company. They're gatting all my business in the future. I met one of the founders at KOH this year. Just an average guy who was sick of the pricing every other vendor demanded. Oh, and he still has a day job, he's not making much at all on the products he sells.

Yep, that's probably the same one then.

I'm not particularly fond of them but they do work and are cheaper than the others. If you do get them, make sure you get all the upgrades they offer. People are running them and they are finishing races so there's something to be said for that.

The project is going slow, I'm hoping to do some wheeling this year though.

If you need help with anything, let me know.

As a matter of fact bryce. I have a set of Fabtec beams for the front and would like to extend them like 4" each side. I am going to go coilover insted of coil springs. I know you have way more knowledge then eric and I on such a thing. Would you be interested? If so please let me know? If not thats OK.

Thanks,
Dennis

I've always got time for some side projects. Do you want the camber corrected also or just lengthened? Either way it's about the same amount of work. When you get to that point let me know and we can start taking measurements.
