Two days till baby number 2 arrives..... that's my only update.

Getting the house ready and helping the wife have taken priority. I'm hoping I'll be able to start sneaking out to the garage after the kids go to bed and getting some of the quieter work done. I want to get the t-cases cleaned up and mated together, and get my front axle cleaned up and ready for reassembly. I'm hoping to have the truck going in the next few weeks so I can play a little this summer while I collect parts for the front 3-link.

But that's it for now.

I think I'll stick with the 1/2" to match the rear....

Not much of an update, but I got her home from up north and got her running a bit better. I still think the carb needs a rebuild...

I mounted up the 35's to see how she'll sit. I really think it sawzall time and I'll probably leave it on stock suspension for now.

After I get the doubler in, the front 60 in and find some bigger tires, I'll get some 6" superflex springs. I'll relocate the buckets up to reduce the lift to about 4", and see how my shocks are going to mount.

I've got some ideas for the body, but again, I'm going to keep it simple for now.

Still collecting parts, but I've got enough to start making some changes. I picked up a couple of sets of deaver coils. 6" fronts, for 78-79 bronco. and some 5.5" fronts for an early bronco. I'm hoping the rates are close enough I can use the 5.5's in the rear. According to deaver, the 6" are 300lb, and the 5.5's are 190. Lighter than I thought, but they'll get me started. I also picked up a new 9", already built up.... apparently it's made the rounds, but has stood up to a couple of well built rigs here on the board, including Colin's old bronco, so should be stout enough for me. I also traded my 85 HP60 for a 78, to give me a little more room for the front radius arms. I picked up a set of extended stock radius arms and will just run them for now. I'll be using a set of ballistic flex joints on the frame end. If I could get some more of my parts sold, I would get my tires on order too. But that's not critical right now.

So current build plan is.

HP60 front w/radius arms
9" rear with wishbone three link
sticking with the 351m for now (460 on the stand to get new gaskets and seals)
C6/203-205 doubler
4-6" lift
Fender trimming to allow for 42" pitbulls on blinging 20's
Eventually I'll add some inner air locks
Pushing front axle forward approx 2"
Rear will go back about 4" total wheelbase will be around 110.

I have been severly slacking in garage time, getting the house and yard fixed up, but hoping to start working on it more after this weekend.

Updated parts list.

I ordered up some 5.13's and a rebuild kit for the 60, also ordered a cage kit from S&W. I've heard mostly good about their bronco cage so I figured I would give it a try. Plus, they have free freight on any purchase over $250 for today only, so free shipping on a full cage and family bar.

I ordered some new wedges for the front axle too. So I can get the radius arms set up.

I received my ballistic joints on wednesday and they look real good. Pretty beefy.

I'm pulling stuff off of the parts truck this weekend... stuff that's sold. then hopefully get some stuff mounted on the bronco.

Anyone interested in setting up some gears for me? can pay with beer or parts....

so this is it.... no turning back. The stock axles are sold, so she's in the garage on stands waiting for some surgery. Here are the last pics as she sat in stock form.

And loaded up with parts, new and old.....

Plans haven't changed much. Still planning on 4-6" of lift. 42" sx2's are on their way. The drivetrain is pulled out of the parts truck and ready to be cleaned up and gone through including the 203 for the doubler. I picked up a full cage kit that needs to be trimmed and fit. I need lower links for the rear, and to figure out how I'm going to mount my rear coils. My biggest task right now is getting the 60 cleaned up and put together and figuring out what I need for caliper mounts. And I'm still questioning sticking with the extended radius arms instead of a 3 link....

Delicious rubber goodness.... Not what I had originally planned, but I got a pretty damn good deal for 5...

Anybody know a good shop around GR to mount and balance some 42's? Let me know...

Do it yourself.

Are those ballistic joints for the uppers or something? I wouldnt run a shank that small on the lowers, it's a failure waiting to happen. Are you going to replace the front radius arm with another radius arm? Why not add one upper link and get a more predictable front suspension?

Looks like a cool project! I've always liked full sized trucks on big tires with little lift!

I just read the other thread on here about getting wheels mounted and I mounted my last tires myself, but this time, I've got the bling aluminum and I'm worried about messing them up....

Those are actually the joint on the extended radius arms. I bought them already built, and have the new wedges for the front axle, but I'm still debaiting doing a three link instead. The biggest reason I haven't yet is pretty much the cost. I have everything to do the radius arms, but I would need more steel and four more joints just for the front, and I still have to do lower links for the rear. I understand the benefits, I just don't know if the budget will allow it. For now, I'll probably continue with the radius arms so I can get everything mocked up and tacked, and hopefully if I can swing it, I won't have to change much to switch to a three link.

Ordered joints and tube inserts for the rear lowers last night. I'm going to get the front axle cleaned up and mocked in place this weekend. I still need to figure out my rear brackets for upper tri link and lowers links on the frame end.

It was good to finally get some work done on this thing. I got the tires mounted up this morning, and put about 6 hours into it before I had to stop and start the grill.

Got the brackets cut off the front axle and ground it down smooth. I also cleaned and re-packed the front wheel bearings and put the spindles and hubs back on. Of course everything will come back off when I get it cleaned up and final welding done. I just wanted to get it together to set up the location. I got the wedges and arms bolted on to figure out the caster and how far forward I want to stretch. (which is not done yet) That's part of the plan for tomorrow. I need to remove the upper coil mounts to relocate them 2-4 in forward, and get the coils in place to see how much trimming will need to be done. I also slid the rear axle in place and put in some mock lower links. It's just sitting there on blocks though, nothing too exciting.

Here are some pics of the 60 hanging in place....

I'll thow up some pics tomorrow when I get the wheels out and in place.... blingy....
