Default This is sure to piss people off...

...or at least make for some darn good discussions!

My church is starting a new message series in response to all of those "Coexist" bumper stickers, so I thought I'd post it up here as it unfolds.

It starts the first week of October, and I'll post up all of the messages (3 total) as they become available.

For now, here is something to keep you busy:
www.canwecoexist.com

and, just for kicks, the church's site:

I stopped reading after the first line:

Imagine. Imagine a world. A world with no hatred, racism or injustice.

That's funny...the pastor referenced that song during his last message.

I'm down. I'm agnostic. Do you know what the whole message is though, it's kind of vague? They say that all religions can coexist, but then they talk about how different religions really are, then they say "Is Christianity the problem or the answer?" so then you're locked into being with or against them. It's publicity. In the end, they still are going to push Christianity.

Well duhhhhhhh.

But, through referencing all of the books (quran, bible, etc...) and presenting what each religion believes, the pastor is trying to make the case for Christianity.

I can't really be much more specific as I was in the music ministry and missed part of his message this week (I had to fix my bass backstage for a little while). But it sounds like he is going to look at all of the religions claims, then analyze whether Christ is liar, lunatic, or lord.

Should be interesting either way.

Very educated way of thinking...

How about seeking truth? This looks like a great series, can't wait to hear the rest.

Guess what my vote is.

I care what I believe in, but it's up to other people to seek what they believe is true. I chose to be Agnostic, not because I was too lazy to go to Church, but because I looked into the beliefs of other religions and decided what path to take. Don't think that I'm not educated on religion, because I am quite educated due to the fact that I often have to defend my beliefs.

Personally I like to stick with science and logic above all else.

Then I look forward to whatever knowledge you can bring to the table in the weeks to come!

Make sure the pastor is keeping on the straight and narrow. If you can call him out on something, let me know. I talk to him frequently, and I can ask him to explain or provide specifics on things if need be.

Any of your input would be appreciated!

x2.....I'm with you! I consider myself a religious person but I don't preach it to people that don't want to hear it. I also don't want other preaching their beliefs on me (I.E. Jehovah witness)

The more I think about this, the crazier it sounds. This guy is saying that Christianity is THE religion by making cases in flaws with other religions. Don't you think all of the other religions can do the exact same thing? I live by the golden rule - Do unto others as you would want others to do unto you. I think if you live by that rule, you're going to be an alright person. This guy is essentially telling other religions why they suck, but would he want other's to pick apart his religion. I think of religion like I think of politics; eveyone has their opinion on who is the best, but the bottom line is that nobody truly knows until that person takes charge. With religion you don't really get that chance though. What happens if Buddah comes down some day and says that he is the one and only God? I think there is some higher being, but I don't think there is a definite way to know who/what is the correct being to worship. I try to just be a good person.

Will do. I'm sure it will be interesting. Initiating a religious war by calling out the flaws of other religions is always helpful to everyone.

ALL religions are flawed, as they are human interpretations of God's word.

God being, Jihad, Buddah, or father of Christ? That's what stirs things up because everyone thinks they are right.
