Apart of me wants Obama to win just based on the fact im interested in how bad he would jack this country up, and he would. More or less just to see it crumble i guess, oh im also fascinated at cracks in the ceiling when i lie in bed.

I agree. That's one of my biggest fears if Obama gets to be president. He seems to have a recent history of making careless comments that others take offence to. You'd think as a black man he'd be more conscience of how poorly chosen words can offend people. Iím not sure I want someone to be representing the country in international affairs that is that careless with the words he uses.

I watched the speech. While he did use it while talking about McCain's politics, he paused and the crowd laughed when he said that. Very choice words that were used on purpose to mock Palin. He could have said anything else when describing McCain's politics, but he used that phrase because it was the same phrase that got her so much press the week before!!

Best analagy thus far and I agree 100%. He used politics and choose he words and pauses carefully.

Right, like Obama/Biden suggesting segregation (dividing the country by race and religion) in Iraq as solution.

Are you saying that McCain has less international and military experience than senator Obama?....

Or maybe you meant to say that McCain has 100x the experience and Obama has no clue what he's talking about.

p.s. McCain used the same exact phrase (lipstick on a pig, it's still a pig) to describe one of Hillary Clinton's plans, pretty sure it was her health plan.

Just thought I would mention that. I am sure the clip will be up somewhere soon, at least the audio. it is being played and discussed on Sirius 110.

If thats true... and I'm waiting to see the link... then as anyone in politics knows, timing is EVERYTHING!

Bad timing on his part! And that still doesn't explain why he pauses and smiles when he says it (and the crowd laughs because THEY understand it).

He has used the term as well. Plenty of people have.

The pause, IMO was for effect, but about policy. Interpretation is everything.

Oh come on Pete. I don't care that I disagree with you on policy but you should at least be able to admit it was a bonehead comment.

Well, in that instance, he had no idea what he was talking about. pseudo Democrat Joe Lieberman had to help him.

McCain may have used the term before as many others, but were they running for president and was it after a hockey mom, pit bull, lipstick reference??????

Also, if interpretation is everything, I wonder what the crowd that was laughing and cheering were thinking...........errrr interpertating...

I can't stand the bastard but I believe this is what happened.

I don't think he did it in referance to our soon to be VP, but the crowd sure did.

I still can't believe that a woman could be so damn Conservative.

If you play with the Electoral votes, it still looks like Obama is going to win. there are only a few swing states that are in question.

It doesn't matter what is real, it matters what people think is real.

Anyone who owns a business knows how much money/time goes into making sure people "feel" good... it doesn't matter if their concern was true, false, your problem, or not.

I imagine politics is the same way.

Politics is MORE THAN the same way (if that's possible).

To me, it is one of the most extreme examples of what you are speaking about.

...and it's kinda' sad, actually.

You are both very correct. This is why "spin" is such a popular tool. The facts don't matter once the seed is planted.

Had the TV on in my workroom last night while tearing my Chain saw apart and there was a segment about the "lipstick" remark. MSNBC, and I think it was Olberman (yea I know, he supports Obama, but he did not make this up). They played 4 or 5 clips, audio and video of McCain using the same expression in public venues. Late last year he used the comment when discussing Hillary Clintons health planned and how it compared to her and Bill's plan back in the early 90's. So, yes, he has used it while running for president.

If he had said pitbull instead of pig, then there would be no doubt.

They need to get to the issues. Not much time left.
