Yes, because everyone needs to own assault weapons, and they shouldn't have to register those weapons or have to go through any checks to get one, and they also should be able to buy multiple assault weapons in the same month.

Because you know you need those to protect yourself or to hunt

BTW, the President alone cannot enact laws. This is what Congress is for. This is also why Reagan and both Bushes were unable to overturn Roe v Wade.
Founding Fathers wrote the constitution in a way to prevent one man from having all the power, remember- they were fighting against a monarchy.

Our system isn't perfect, but it's the best so far...

Define assault weapon.

This isn't the first time I've asked this, but lets see if it is the first time it's answered.

From Wki:
The term Assault weapon is derived from the term assault rifle, itself a translation of the German word Sturmgewehr, literally "storm-rifle". In its technical sense, the term Assault weapon refers to a military weapon used to aid in military assault operations, that is, attacking a fortified position (as referenced in multiple uses in military terminology below). Legislators and political lobbyists have adopted the term to refer to specific semi-automatic firearms and other firearms listed by specific characteristics for statutory purposes. The legislative usage follows usage by political groups seeking to limit the individual's right to keep and bear arms, who have sought to extend the meaning to include a semi-automatic firearm that is similar in name or appearance to a fully automatic firearm or military weapon. Note that this term is not synonymous with assault rifle, which has an established technical definition. Advocates for the right to keep and bear arms, commonly referred to as gun rights supporters, generally consider these uses of the phrase assault weapon to be pejorative and politically-motivated when used to describe civilian firearms. This term is seldom used outside of the United States in this context.

Its a very good example of creating a term or wording things in such a way to rally support against it.

I have a baseball bat. If I assault someone with it then it is a weapon. Baseball bats should be banned from public ownership.

What Wiki said.

Bascially i don't see a reason to own one for hunting and self protection. Sure its cool to own one, but there really is no need for them, except in instances of war.

The right to Bear arms doesn't mean the right to have a basement full of guns(well i guess you could, but its excessive if you aren't "collector"), Think of the guns they had when the constitution was written. Every other technological thing that gets modernized, legislation restricts/modifies the laws related to it(cars, computers, etc). But for some odd reason gun laws stay pretty much sore spots just because they can't draw a line as to what kind of guns are reasonable.

Other than that, people should be able to own guns, but you have to register your car, there is a licensing procedure, etc. A car is more deadly than a Gun, but yet you seemingly just need a pulse to buy a gun.

if I mash you in the face with an over ripe banana doesn't it become an 'assault weapon' by definition?

The Second Amendment IS NOT about hunting, so the constant "do you need [insert firearm here] to hunt [insert species here]" question is immaterial.

The Second Amendment is clear:

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

There is no mention of hunting, limits on numbers or types of arms, etc... In particular, the last phrase "shall not be infringed" is key. The American Heritage dictionary defines "infringe" as "To encroach on someone or something".

So, as I read it, the Right of "the people" to keep AND bear arms shall not be encroached upon - i.e limited, restricted, etc...

It I want to own 57 guns, then so be it. If you want to own zero, ditto. If I commit a crime with mine, prosecute me. If I don't, leave me alone.

And as far a technology changing: Have the advancements in communications caused us to retool free speech?

And registering your car is just a form of taxation.

one of the main points in that was the raise in gun and ammo taxes and outlaw most ammunition. they realize they cant get rid of guns so they make them impossible to shoot. the gangbanger that is going to rob you is still going to be able to come up with a box of ammo to do it but a person like me that likes to shoot alot wont be able to afford it. they want to disarm everyone but the criminals and the police.
