Default Need good gas mileage car

Need a reliable car that gets good gas mileage for under $2000, the cheaper the better though, but emphasis on reliable. Let me know what youve got. Thanks

You know, I've talked to a lot of people who are looking for a small car to replace their gas hog. I tell them if you spend around $2500 to buy one, it would take you from 2-3 years of driving to get that $2500 back in gas savings. By then, gas might come down again. That, and I wouldn't trust a small car in an accident. I've had to pry too many bodies out of wrecked cars when the guy in the truck walks away. Just my opinion.

I hear ya, but this isn't really to replace something for gas reasons, my brother blew the engine on his jimmy and needs a something to replace it, and he is low on cash and needs to save as much money as possible so might as well get something that is cheap and good on gas.

you could replace the engine in the jimmy with BRAND NEW for 2 grand, and it wouldn't blow up.

I could do that, but the rest of the car would still be a rusted piece of crap... and its not my car. Ive done engine swaps its no big deal, but its time for something different.
Thank you for the suggestions, and I'm not trying to be rude, but all he is looking for is a decent car that is reliable and that gets good gas mileage, so please if you don't have any information regarding a car for sale, I don't need any other suggestions.

I have a very nice 1993 Lincoln Tiwn Car. Getsa 23+mph highway at 75mph. Around 18 city and it is plenty big enough to still fell comfortable in. Although I would really like to get more $2000 would buy it. I just have no use for the car and have had it for 8 months now. It was in my family for its whole life.
