explorer straight axle swap????

have a 94 explorer, 8 inches of lift, 36s. want to do a straight axle swap in the front. did some measuring, and a cherokee axle is only 1/4 inch wider, any info, ideas. whats the easiest or the best swap. would like to do the cherokee for the after market support.

yeah EB D44 real simlple least amount of work......then just get lug adapters to convert the rear bolt pattern and all set.

36's and a D30 untized bearing and no hub locks just sound like a bad idea..

Check out holshotracers build in the rig builds section (Explanger Build) his frame is a explorer frame so it is the same as yours (from the mid section forward, his is a 4dr). He just has a ranger cab on the explorer frame. Hes basically has a EB 44 coil sprung etc.

thats why we started with a 77 f150 FW D44 and had the pass shortened to EB width (6"s removed from axle tube). The Left side of the f150 d44 and the eb are within an half inch if i remember correctly.

i run the same axle in my B2 (basically same front frame dimensions) as a Full width 44 coil sprung and now the basically a eb 44 leaf sprung. It really is very easy to set-up a coil sprung SAS under a explorer using a eb or even a fw 44

I would do like the others mentioned with the 44

otherwise you are replacing a D35 with a D30

The TTBs have their place, they aren't that bad when set up correctly for what you want to do
