You are not a beautiful and unique snowflake. You are the same decaying organic matter as everyone else, and we are all part of the same compost pile. ~Chuck Palahniuk, Fight Club, Chapter 17

We are all worm food. I have accepted that. There is no mythical place that we go after we die. We are not special. Religion is a tool to control the masses. Always has been, always will.

Christianity is not even a unique type of religion. It is a mish-mash of previous religions. Christian don't even know the history of their own religions.

Once you walk away from your religion you will realize that you CAN live without fear. You can start enjoying your life without worrying about the afterlife. Enjoy the moment. Stop being part of the "flock".

Mr Toes, it is OK to tell others you are scared. It shows in your posts. The first stage is admitting it to yourself. It is ok. We will welcome you. Let your fear go......

I found some reading I enjoy as well.

I applied your worm eating senario as well as the who decides whats right and wrong and I have a conclusion that would surely piss you off to no end.

On the other hand I applied what I use as a guide line and can make a significantly different conclusion.

The justice is aborting the baby so the father does not reproduce and pass on his genes. Maybe the guy was insane and had lots of hereditary diseases. Should the mother pay even more for this rape by having this bastard child?
If it was my daughter, I would be extremely mad if she actually wanted to keep the baby. How could you keep this baby born from such a horrible man and horrible crime

Then Im going to go to Russia and hang out with the Cossaks there I can tourture and abuse the Muslim Turks because that written law says its OK.

Oh I almost forgot, U.S. law allows me to take your real estate if I do it in a certain way. Not pay for it just take it. Thats A OK because its written. Right??

Yes. that's true with or without your religion. Survival of the fittest. If you're capable, and it's legal, then by all means give it your best shot. Are you trying to make me whine and cry like a religious person stomping my feet saying "but it's just not fair!"? It's not going to happen.

Just checking in to see if you guys agreed on God being real or not. It's like trying to argue what is inside of a room that nobody can open.

Hey, what do you think about priests who touch little boys? Stupid or liars? Stupid because they think that by doing this act they will have to spend ETERNITY in hell, or liars because they truly don't believe in heaven or hell.

If I may lend a machete to the intellectual thicket being tangled by Toes and ShowJeep:

1. If you believe in the Bible (regardless of religion) then after death Eccl. 9:5, 10 states "For the living know they will die; but the dead do not know anything, nor have they any longer a reward, for their memory is forgotten".

2. Not a believer in the Bible - Same ending "For the living know they will die; but the dead do not know anything..."

Conclusion: You die, you go into the ground and you are conscious of nothing. This is according to common sense and the Bible.

The concept of a burning hell is actually not proven by the Bible if you actually study the symbolism used, consider context and translate words like "Gehenna" and "Sheol" properly.

And what about heaven??? Let me ask you this - How can only 144,000 souls go to heaven? Your odds are sad if you factor in every single person who has ever lived in the history of man.

The true topic to be discussed would then be resurrection!

See toes? even the bible says you're nothing but worm food
My approach is to live life to the fullest, which includes living a very long, healthy life. I eat clean, drink lots of water, exercise, don't drink much, etc.
I know this is the only life I get, so I want to live as long as I can, and play with my grandchildren some day etc. I know I could get hit by a truck tomorrow, nukes could go off, etc. but you can't plan or worry about shit like that.

Not at all I believe we have to hold ourselves to a higher standard than some bullshit a politician wrote on a piece of paper.

Does it matter what I think?

I thought we had all come to the conclusion do what you want to satisfy yourself, this is what life is all about.

While it may be against the law in certain countries to do this some places allow it so it must be OK.

That's easy, consious. If it's something that I think might make it hard to sleep at night, I leave it alone. All petty arguments aside, it's just your consious, and for the most part, is probably intact due to how you were raised to treat people, no religion involved, and in the religionless world that scares people, the people with no consious who rape, murder, and pillage, will be dealt with with no mercy, and we'll still be able to sleep at night.

Determinig "morality" wasn't my point. I was commenting on what happens after death. The answer: Nothing, we're dead and the Bible confirms that.

Morality? I have to judge myself but I also realize I will be judged by a higher power. Whether this judging happens during my life time or after I am gone, I will be judged. Therefore, I derive my morality or lifes path after Biblical teachings. My morality is not derived from the "traditions of men" or from "pagan rituals".

My conscience is my guide, no book required.

You are correct in that I can not know what all others will see as “harm, suffering and misery”, so I have to go by the “do unto others as you’d have them do unto you” rule. And one of the things I believe we should “do unto others” is to try to understand their feelings and beliefs and respect them.

I would only be a hypocrite if I tried to claim moral perfection. I don’t. I know that I’m morally imperfect, that I sometimes do the wrong thing or fail to do the right thing. Moral perfection would require the knowledge of the feelings on everyone in the world. No mortal human has that ability.

Genesis 2:7 states And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
John. 3:16 God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everone who believes in him may not be lost but may have eternal life.
