Default Today's Project: Winch Control

So several years ago i purchase a used 9000# ramsey winch for $75.
Catch, no Solenoid pack. No biggie. Well web wheeling i haven't needed it, so like 5 years later i built a solenoid pack for it.

DPDT 125 amp solenoids
3/4" wide, 1/16" thick copper bars coated in tool dip
some wire
I decided to use the 4 pole round trailer connectors for the connection between solenoid and remote, this way i can also have another lead made up for in-cab control.

For a remote, a local control "pickle" from a 1-ton Chain motor.

The bottom of the box did have O-rings for the cables, but they REALLY didn't want to stay in place, so i'm going to go ghetto and RTV them in place.

tomorrow i just need to mount the winch and plug it in and make sure it works ( damn mosquitos were bugging me tonight or it would already be done

Damn i was hoping for half - half -assed

I wanted to use a slightly bigger pelican case, but no-one had any in stock the size i wanted, and i already had that one.

it's all good, it works, and cost me less than a replacement set-up. and spare parts will be cheap, and available at Napa
