Default 1997 f150 4.6L issue

okay here's what i got, 1997 f150 auto 4wd.
so about 2 months ago i drove the truck around for probably a week when i had time off from school. (I go to school in ohio so don;t drive it much anymore.) But last time i drove it ran great no issues what so ever. well last week i get in it just to start it up battery was dead so i charged it (left the dome light on so i let it charge for a few hours on low, go back out fire it up started right up but was idling really rough. took it down and put about 6 gallons of fuel in it figured it had some moisture in the tank from sitting with quarter tank in it. gas station is 1/2 mile from the house. its definitly a misfire cuz it threw check engine light and flashing which is usually misfire or random misfire..... thats where i am at with it have not had alot of time to check it out and not going to drive it in its condition don;t need to burn up a cylinder. but the truck ran great before, now shit.... all plug wires are on and tight, clean... truck did it once before but not this bad, it ended up being heater hose on back of the intake dripping into no. 4 cylinder shorting out plug wire. its not that this time... and others have this ever happen

try pulling the codes to see if there is any good info there would be a good start.

Other than that have you checked each plug to make sure you are getting spark to them? Did that year have individ coil packs or banks?

I always start with spark or fuel.

No, that year had two coil packs 4 plugs per pack. Ya I am waiting for my brother to get his scanner back from a friend. Just didn't want to drive it any where in its running condition
