the bronco GY wanted 120 for all the parts and hardware to fix the spring hanger. i got lucky and won an ebay auction for everything i need except 8 3/8x1" grade eight bolds. i would be able to get those from tractor supply for less than $2 i'm planning on doing them next Thursday at school so it should be back on the road then.

Just got the new shackles and brackets in the mail!!! should be all ready to go on thursday. i have all the tools and i really hope it goes without a hitch.

If anybody is intrested the spec on the ranger spring eye bolts is:

110x14MM metirc grade 9.8

when i did my springs 100mm worked and mine were emetric grade 10.8, i found the cheapest thing was to oreder them from, heres a littele plug, HOWELL HARDWARE on d-19 in howell. their great up there, they have the biggest selection of metric i know of and if they dont have it they can almost always order it from their supplier next day at a reasonable price. i got 5 of those eye bolts for $13 or so. which is a good price for special ordered hardened bolts that big, with 5 matching nuts.

Today i mounted and balanced the Bfgoodrich Trac Egde tires at school. when i got home i mounted them on the truck. after a little thinking im going to take the mud grips and yokohamas to school and put the mud grips on the black steel wheels because they have less back spacing and put the yokohamas on the jeep wheels and try to sell them, i think two sets of tires and two spares is plenty. i alos bought two new axle joints today, i have been throwing around the idea of swapping in a D35 but i just dont have the money to do it the way i want to so i think im going to hold off and keep the tires no taller than the 32" mud grips.

so im doing the tires tomorrow, frame and springs thursday, and u joints on monday i hope, the schedule shows class monday.

no, i thought it was all set i just needed to go pick it up, then he sold it on me. now im not doing anythign with the rear end, i might end up buying that diff cover you have. i want an aftermarket cover but nobody make sone for a 7.5 so im going to see if i got a steel one if it could be welded on to add some reinforcement.

i figure that for under 100 i should be ready for the first run this summer. depending how work goes i might be able to swing a winch by the end of the season.

i tried to replace the front axle joints today but ran into some problems. i had everything stripped off both spindles in about 10 minutes but then i ran into a lot of trouble getting the spindles off, in the end i used a combination of air chissel, heat and a big brass hammer to get them off. once i got them off i found that the U joints they sold me at Murrays were the wrong size. i said that at the counter but they didnt listen. so i tried a few parts stores and nobody seems to carry three and i want to do all three at the same time. so i ended up back at Murrays with the drivers side shaft in my hand to get the lifetime U-joints that fit. they're not cheap but i hope they last. so i ended up smearing anti cease all over the spindles and bolting them back in without the axle shafts. i plugged or covered all the holes and drove it home. i hope i have time to do the spring brackets in the morning and u joints in the after noon. i have class on monday too, but worst case i do the center u-joint at school and the outers at a friends house. what a PIA

well i sort of gave up on the u-joints till i can get to a shop where i have enough time to get them all done at once, and get them done right. i was able to get the oxygen sensor installed though, wasn't easy but it wasn't really that hard either. runs better and ecomomy seems to have been helped.

Hey man use that big shop press in the Diesel lab, i did my u-joints on that real quick. Or try out that snap-on c-clamp press in the crib, its sweeet.
