The plans are to clean and repaint the one tons axles, going to be leaf spring rear and the front I am debating a coil suspension or do the leaf spring front again, or do I go coil over or air shocks suspension.
Same tire and wheel combo and put flat skid plate on and finish the sliders I started and put them on and build the front bumper to wrap around with winch plate and build rear bumper with tire carrier/slider, put hydro assist on this time around.
Should be able to start working on it this weekend.:thumb:
The front frame while boxed, is very thin metal. Anything you do wether bolt or weld make sure to strengthen the area around it IE fish plate or put sleeves through the frame connecting inside to outside.
But price out a pair of coil covers, springs (assuming you get the right rates the first puchase), bumps and cans, and if you want it stable price out a sway bar. I bet all that added up is more then a pair of struts. And with the struts you don't need bumps or a sway bar.
If or when I get around to SAS my explorer it will get struts.
Starting the front this week on my days off. :thumb:
