Really? I always thought flint was far worse on Saginaw north of the river and neighborhoods to the west of saginaw, between saginaw, dupont, and pierson.
Then the state streets area over near Dort and Davison....
But in a city filled with gutted and ransacked buildings, the library has for the most part stayed intact. Perhaps even the looters have a respect for the services once provided there.
I had to go to a power plant in n/e flint a week and a half ago, had to take a detour because there was a shooting and the cops had everything shutdown. Leaving the plant, the workers told me a fast way to get back on the hwy followed by "don't make any complete stops."
There are far worse neighborhoods in Flint than that one they name. I worked in that neighborhood for 6 years, and often was down there at 3-4 am to open the office up. Though we had a lot of thefts, and dumping in the area, we also had Johns beating hookers in the neighboring parking lot.
In the 6 years I was there (the named area) the Taco Bell manager got shot, and a John and his hooker got whacked on Lapeer Rd.
Robert T, Dayton Ave, Dupont, Clio Rd, Pierson Rd, or any of the "state named" streets are much worse areas.
I had to do service calls in a lot of those areas sometimes when I worked at the Pierson Rd Home Depot, that got sketchy - i was the main reason I kept my '87 caprice around. I would take that on a call rather than my lifted Wrangler - it actually made a huge difference in how I was treated down there.

It seems like the only people that think Kettering is worth the 6x the money, are people that went there. I will get the same jobs as the other interns I work with and save myself over 100,000. To each their own
I think any time you have a university in a very urban area that is filled with young, naive, idealistic children you will have great opportunity for crime.
Like I said it seemed like every other day I would see the emails from the WSU security alerts about someone being mugged, someone's car being stolen, someone being raped, etc...
After a few weeks of having to walk waaaaaay out to my car at 10:00 at night along half lit sidewalks, alone, I decided I was going to take the necessary measures to ensure my safety...
I have to agree with the kettering grads.....There's a reason I don't place very many kettering grads....they already have jobs.
