I will still go on weekends but it kinda sucks sitting there listening to idiots blazing away at anything that moves.....then they want to show you the "giant" buck they got....the same buck you have let walk a dozen times so it can grow.
Its just not the same as sitting there listening to the sounds of nature, enjoying the quite and observing deer that are not pressured.

I haven't been firearm deer hunting for about seven years.
Besides the amateur orange army privates blasting away at shadows and movement, I was spoiled by a week on private land on NE that had lots of big deer and no public land "yahoo factor". Managed private land > 1000* best public land.
Good luck boys, and don't get shot. (I'd say be safe here, but you can't do much about some hilljack shooting wildly. I'm sure you all know and exhibit good gun control)
I saw a nice looking doe run across Woodward at Long Lake this morning and 5 deer standing in the middle of my road yesterday morning when I was out running.
We hunt some very good private land in Calhoun county (~250 acres) and as far as i know no one else bow hunts the entire mile square block so we have it made.....gun season roles around and there are tons of people on it. We are working hard at acquiring rights to 300 acres adjoining to ours....that would be huge for us....not necessarily to even hunt it but more so to keep the retards who hunt it now away....they show up well after day light, wonder around aimlessly because they forgot where their stand is, make a shit ton of noise, ect ect.
Think I will set on the little swail in the south west of my property. I have usually shot a deer there at least one per year, it has been a honey hole.
I'm just north east of ludington, 40 acres. Just finished setting up camp. Now we are at the bar checking out the local talent. Yuck.
